I do like the look of those steps and platforms, though. I saw news that the Council won't allow further ones installed. Here's my gear just visible in the distance in the nearest Trent swim to my house. (2 miles) The Wye looked a bit like this when I used to go to Hereford.

I went to the Trent this autumn and the swim I fished was similar to your picture. I used a dog spike and a rope with loops tied in it as it was really slippery. When I fished the Wye at Ross a couple of years back, Dave Giddy, who used to post on here, slipped going down and most of his gear ended up in the water. A couple of the other lads with us gave him a hand and managed to get most of it back. But some of those banks are bloody dangerous.

the pegs on Belmont are much steeper … particularly if river is near summer level. Definite spike and rope territory for many. I’m a pretty adept scrambler so haven’t needed one (yet)

I wouldn’t try that swim til next June. A few years ago, some bloke used to post HDYGO reports from a southern river (Stour maybe) with lots of big chub. I didn’t envy his chub so much as the flat, grassy bank at water level his pics showed. Living near a cushy river could add ten years to your fishing.

I can understand that. On the Charente and Vienne I have a different problem in that the banks are often four feet above the water level with over 10 feet depth of water at the rod end. We all have our crosses to bear.

Go to the Teme on a wet day, 0-60 in 4 seconds, lol...
Clay? I stayed at some cottages on the Wye above Ross a few times. One weekend the rain brought the river up and you couldn’t stand up on the bank.

What fishing is coming to? I just saw a post online where an angler wrote: I've got a Matrix digital fish counter - is there an attachment to mount it on the leg of my Octbox? What's the product that for you says most about angling paraphernalia shopaholics?
It will be either for counting number of fish .
Or if in a match with net weight limits , a counter for number of fish , based on an average weight depending on venue . Example 50lb net limit , could be 12 carp at average of 4lb . Better to be under than over . People have various ways of counting . Some use pegs , others drop something in empty bait bait tub each time . A counter is the better option .

He is a bit short on clickers he should have 7. God knows what the stocking level if you need 7 keepnets for a 5 hour match.
Not all pegs will need that number of nets . If you can, check the results of matches on the better known commercials , The backing weights will be way down on the framing weights .

Carp anglers getting their fair share, but let's not leave anybody out

Rod bag on your shoulder and you're ready to go. (But I can't see which bit you actually sit on. Separate trailer, maybe?)
Sit at the front on the seat of the octbox .After taking the box from the trolley

That looks like a full octbox trolley set up .
Never seen one like that on the banks .

Nice trolley however those wheels look totally rubbish and wouldn’t be any good at all over a muddy field or muddy track; it would sink right up to its axles.🙂

I have a cheap festival trolly that would be far better over soft ground (see pic) 😊

See plenty of those on the Newlands Angling waters on the Linear Complex in Oxford .
Thinking of getting on for myself .

Where is the seat in the pic I posted? There's a tray at the top of the box but no seat. I've got an Octbox so I know which bit you sit on.

That’s a small problem with the Hereford platforms, they are constructed for a winter river … i was struggling with a 3m landing net handle in a match earlier last year when at summer level. i shall purchase a 4m one soon.

Of course. There's the box frame. But no seat. Just a tray.
Have a look at the front of the trolly , you can make out the seatbox there .The seat part is not shown ,only the frame and drawer system .

Post #58 and you're telling me what I posted on #13?
