I've watched all of his videos and enjoyed them all,I like his deep seated determination when on a campaign and how he is preparing for the next before succeeding in his present one...

We wont but others will. I don't think anyone with common sense will but that's a big ask these days. Even then I don't think they will use fox hunting as a comparison, they can show angling as cruelty in its own right because it is, you cant get away from that in my opinion. We can point out that it is very low on the cruelty spectrum say compared to fox hunting and the like but would that be enough! Its not the fish they will be bothered about anyway, we will just be the latest target for the boot, that's what they want, "someone" to hate and have a go at.
Let them, we are living in tribal/polarised times caused by overexposure to social media! Social media is a baby that's just found it feet and is running roit to a mother/father who doesn't realise it needs control.

Most of the people who get trapped in the algorithms of social media and it becomes all they see, they thedon't t understand why others are so stupid that they don't understand the information "everyone" is talking about. The reason for that is, the algorithms of social media doesn't distribute the same issue to everyone, further more the algorithms don't care if the information is true or not.

What these social media radicalised anti Fishermen will do is trawl sites like this for information they can twist, this thread would be ideal for them. Angling isn't cruel, angling saves fish on the contrary, who pays for the conservatory of fish stocks? Or building of safe havens for fish sporning in rivers or the clean up of rivers.

Angling videos where Angler's dive in to save trapped swans and treat fish like pets, giving them medicine and a kiss before we release them isn't cruelty but...

Why would spear fishing and game fishing end up in bother?
Spearfishing is normally done for the pot same with some game fishing.
There will always be those that want to ban things that others enjoy doing but one thing you have to remember is that nobody go fishing for the welfare of the fish. The way to care for fish is for us not catch them in the first place.

This is not even comparable, there is no excuses for spear Fishing for the pot or not. Its barbarian like, its not even remotely like fishing and the fact its done for food doesn't excuse it. We can kill things in a humane manner.

Many nature reserves have vastly reduced fish population because "naturists" don't care about fish they can't see them, they just like to see birds eating them. So let's look at how fishermen protect fish and wildlife, rather than writing things for the haters to jump on.

Just watched a vid by Terry Hearn where he takes his boat up The Thames - Eleven Years Afloat, It was naturally mostly about carp but shows other fish. I'm not a carper as you know by he narrated this story with a evident passion which made a 45min video fly by, well done that man.

If you liked that, take a look at his video "Tunnel Vison" I doubt there is anyone that wont learn something from that. Worth seeing just for his observations on caddis.

As for the future of angling videos...we all know the influence that social media now has on out lives and if a platform as influential as Youtube decided to stop angling videos then the end really is nigh.

I cant see it happening however...angling is just still too popular.

Sohow would you stop the people of various parts of the world who rely on spear fishing for the food/livelihood ? How do you think fish die when brought in with a trawl net, they are released from the net and left to flap around, is that killing them humanely?

Other than P4A I rarely ever bothered with fishing videos on any platform.

There were a couple of anglers though who used to make programmes on the River Mole some years ago and those were pretty good as they showed much of the fun that two good friends had when fishing.

Who said anything about stopping anything? Likewise where did I say that letting fish flap about to death is humane slaughter?

I can disagree with something without going all out assault on it, it is possible for cultures/people to see different things. This is the basis of a liberal society, we tolerate things we don't like as much as things we do like.

The point is three fold

1) The fishing i do isn't cruel, the fishing 99.9% of UK fishermen do isn't remotely like trawling (which is illegal in UK freshwater). As for spear Fishing, if you spear fished anywhere I go fishing, the fishermen would spear you and rightfully so.

2) The Fishing we do helps to save fish not harm them, without fishermen's licences there would be less fish in the UK.

3) The topic is about Fishing videos, these people use content from fishermen like us to use in their propaganda videos or campaigns, let's not feed them or compare ourselves with animal cruelty let's focus on the good we do.
