I’m based out of the Hampshire/Dorset area. So far I’ve spent a good bit of time including a couple nights at the royalty, throop and the free stretch of the itchen.

All have proven very challenging waters as I have expected. Although I’ve had some impressive chub I’ve still failed to hook one of the bronze buggers.

I understand I’m better off taking a holiday further afield but doesn’t anyone know any other venues for me to try? Any advice is appreciated.

I'm just reading about fishing the Royalty for barbel. Apparently you need to get your man to put a couple of thousand lobworms in your chosen swim each day for a week before you intend fishing. Guaranteed to catch. Hope that helps. :D

Haha similar story down at throop, throw a kg of feed in for a week. Knowing my luck I’d do all that and rock up on the day to someone in the swim 🤣.
