That's enough - if you are both unable to sort this out without ruining what is generally regarded as one of the most useful and popular threads we suggest you both consider your positions as members of this site.

We would be be extremely saddened to see either of you depart. However we can assure you the Editor, and ourselves, will not accept this behaviour.

Just stop responding to each other.

Putting it simply; will you both grow up

Thanks, PoshPaul.
I could barely believe my eyes on reading this garbage...it read like the sort of yankee drivel you see on Youtube - and we are WAY above that. Keep it civilized and keep it decent or the 'blue pencil' will very reluctantly be produced.

So last night I had a quickie....40 minutes....no foreplay, no "be baiting me up all day darling" just bish bash bosh.....

Got a lovely pristine Chub of around 3 maybe 3+ then hit into a complete line screemer....deffo a Barbel, scrapped better than some of the 8's I've had out, I thought as it was going...."this is a nice one"....yeah it turned out to be only 5lb 4oz I think, fittest Barbel I've caught ever! The hook was bent out (kept it as a momento lol) suprised to of landed it after seeing that and what gave me a bigger smile (should of made me slightly disappointed but it didnt) was my reel had fallen to bits in my bag on the way home.....the little bertie smashed my reel up hahaha go on lad! :) proper little scrapper, think Jack Russel with fins and little man syndrome.....love it!

p.s.

Hurry up Llidl (or amazon lol)...I want to go fishing (Carlsberg don't do addictions...but if they did...........)

It's been in the wars but I'm more than happy as that puts me on 17 out of 22 in my little 2015 species challenge :)

Might sound a little out their but have you had Minnow & Bullhead yet?
I haven't, but a local has given me a good lead as to where he has caught them and I'm taking my "mr whippy" poundshop bought pole with 1.1 bs line on it and will be doing some extreme Minnow fishing.......Robson's Extreme fishing Challenge?? pah!.......no where did I put that pack of size 24's :D

I got my Bream (sadly from a still water, still trying for the real Mcoy)

Mirror, Tench, Bream, Barbel (pb), Chub (pb), Perch, Brown Trout (pb), Roach, Pike.

Still up on the roster is...

Rudd, Common Carp, Dace, Eel, Bleak, Ruffe, Gudgeon, Bullhead, Minnow, stoneloach, sticklback (was thing of using the "kiddie net" method)....and last but not least Grayling!

Naughty, naughty Wes!
That 'kiddie net' would be a no-no on our local RodRace - all fish to be caught by fair angling! I thought I was bending the rules by catching a stickleback on worm on a 26 hook - with the stickleback sucking the end of the worm - unhooked! I then went on to catch more - just to see if I could actually hook one - had plenty including double 'hook-ups' with a stickleback on each end of the worm!
Someone told me that Grayling have been found in the Goyt - so you may have some on your doorstep!
Tight Lines!

LOL size 26, my nerves would have that thrown on the floor in no time while I think I'm still tying it  I guess any Stickle back caught on rod and line would give me an instant pb :D Getting two just on ends of worm gave me a chuckle....caught with rod and line but no hook, showing us all up now mate!
fair is fair though.....:D Mr whippy it is.

The Goyt Graylings have evaded me for quite a while now  there are some left still in there your right. I caught one two seasons ago while Dace fishing so by accident that time and in the neighboring river.
Need to get me skates on now.

sorry Mr Crabtree for waffling on too much in your thread.
just for laughs has everyone seen this.......no cheating either!

Down in Wales, un-stocked "commercial" about thirty Roach, best went about half a pound and a solitary Carp if it weighed 12oz that was as good as it got. Tench failed to show up.

The bonus is that the Carp have spawned and bred so Gill's income should improve, (seems people only want to fish for Carp nowadays:confused:

Managed to get about five and a half hours on the canal this morning,
same spot as my last visit. Started off pretty slow during the early chill
using maggot and corn.
Tried a maggot/corn and immediately this fella snatched it.

Mostly roach in the 6oz range and small perch followed. My fishing was interrupted by the pug I had a problem with on my last visit.
The cur began sniffing around my gear as the aged female owner chatted to the village alcky.

As she neared me her 'orrible little angel started to urinate on my landing net handle..."don't do that on the man's stuff" she uttered in her gentle voice .... sorry lady but yer mutt has done the dastardly deed.

It's hind legs lifted off the ground, still urinating, it slowly leaned forward on it's front paws and walked onto the path like an Olympic gymnast.
There was more but I'm just gettin' wound up thinking about it.

I was needing the toilet badly and was thinking of reeling in when something stirred

wonder what this is?

NOOOOHHH! a snotty.

I'm off. :(

Still enjoyed it even tho' someone was taking the p!$$. :)

Sorry for the large first pic, my laptop still playing up.

Visited my club stretch of river again yesterday.

Despite the almost obligatory use of pellets these days they are not something I have really used but I have decided to really give them a try this year.
So catching the boat late (more a running jump off the jetty) I had therefore ordered 25kg of Swindons finest now non elliptical pellet in varying sizes.

These were to be my main attack yesterday along with meat and bread as a back up.

It was a leisurely start with a visit to the nearest local eatery to the river.

Arriving at the club stretch I was wanting to try a peg that I know reasonably well in an attempt to guage the efficacy of said pellets. However the EA were working in the area I intended to fish.
So I settled myself in a peg as from the disturbance as possible.
A lovely looking swim just on the outside beginning of a bend with tree cover on the near (out) side and bushes overhanging the apex of the bend a gentle lob accross and downstream.

I placed 3 baitdroppers of mixed pellet down the near margin in both directions between two nice channels in the rushes before clipping on a feeder and putting 30 feederfuls in the same spot accross river.

Putting on a hook length with hair rigged pellet I swapped the feeder for a small lead and cast to the same spot.
Twenty minutes later while pouring a cuppa, the rod hooped round with the first fish. A nice chub of around 3lb.

I introduced more pellet via the feeder and switched to a piece of meat, result another chub of around 2lb.

Back to the pellet and nothing but tiny taps and the odd pull with no hook up. I thought it might be chub just grabbing the hair rigged bait in their lips and letting go when feeling resistance. So I changed to banded pellet and smaller hook.

This did the trick, turns out the odd bites were 8 to 10oz skimmers trying to get a size 8 wide gape specialist and two 8mm pellets in their mouth.

This set the pattern for the day. I finished with 4 chub and 7 skimmers. If I had changed to banded pellet earlier I think I would have hooked more.

However it has given me the confidence to explore the use of pellets more.

Fished club match on Campbells at Milton Pools near Oxford. Drew peg 2, would have preferred 1 in the corner or 4 or 5 which had better edge lines and a chuck to the lilies. As it was, all open water in front of me and around 3 ft everywhere with about 18 inches tight in to the reeds. Set up 2.5AA waggler for out and two pole rigs, one for down the side to double as shallow rig out and one at dead depth both with a size 16 B911 to 0.13 . Started at 6m loosefeeding 6 mils with a banded one on the hook and after a slow start began to pickup regular carp, mostly 2lb to 2 8 or so. Oddly couldn't catch shallow and started to miss a lot of bites from small fish (managed to hit a few, tiny crucian type thingies the culprit) so stepped the feed up a bit. Mistake....After two more carp began to suffer badly from the dreaded fizzing-but-no-proper-bites syndrome and added only two or three more carp in the middle two hours, losing a few foul hookers which didn't help either. Couldn't get a thing in the edge, where two pegs to my left was catching well, a couple of people on the waggler weren't doing much at all on it, so concentrated on rescuing the 6m line and eventually got them to start behaving themselves again. Ended up with 65-3 for 4th, nothing over about 2 8 although did lose one better fish that did a cats cradle round the legs of the platform on my left.
87 lb won it from peg 10 then a 74 from 4 and a 65-10 from 11 so the long quiet spell really cost me.
Special thanks to Lyle on peg 4 for providing the days best entertainment by having to go for a skinny dip out to the lilies in the middle to retrieve a top 2 with carp attached- the old rest topkit on keepnet, get sandwich, see topkit disappearing out into lake trick. Cue inevitable jokes about mini-wagglers etc etc. He landed the carp as well, playing it back 30 yards or so to the bank while doing a one armed backstroke....

That is pretty impressive.
Makes the Des Taylor pocket pen competition seem a bit boring now.

The guy is a legend!

I've only seen a 70 year old guy once strip off down to his Y fronts and go in to retrieve a float from the lillies once while I was sat by a pond on holiday and he had very saggy man tits, that sight no matter how many times its recalled just won't dull or exit my memory so cheers for reinventing him (the guy in my memory) into a saggy skinned white bearded Carp super hero!

Fished a Sussex reservior match yesterday. At 280 acres it was a bit daunting.
Like many of these big waters it would've fished a lot better with a chop on it.

Me in the foreground here.

I had anticipated fishing the waggler or pole but the fish were further out due to the lack of wind so I fished feeder and redworm. The bites were very cagey from the skimmers, literally a tiny pull on the tip which led to many bites being missed, even on a 3/4 oz tip.
I weighed in about 25 small skimmers, few perch and one roach for 7lb14.
Winner had 14lb.
13 fished..

Took a trip to the Wensum recently. Not so very far away but I had never wet a line there. Stopped by a millpool on a free stretch and had a wander. Lovely clear flowing water and lots of small chub and dace dashing around. Really enjoyed an hour or so wading along a knee deep and eventually spotted what I had hoped for, gudgeon. Big ones too. I went back to get some gear and set up by the weirpool itself. Might as well see what's in here before moving back upstream I thought. I let a stumpy grayling float bob around without bait to check how the water was moving around and pulled out one of the tiny silver blades that I'd seen in their hundreds in the shallows. A hefty underhand swoop downstream beyond the turbulence and a single grain of corn was wafting about at 3/4 depth. I didn't plan to fish with corn but wish I had brought more. All I had was a small handfull of leftovers in a bucket. I'd already chucked half of 'em in whilst setting up. Using it first seemed an obvious step. First cast and a very lean brown trout came splashing to the net. 3 more of those, some small but perfect Dace a couple of roach and some chub around a pound, and the corn was used up. Bread got me a couple more bites and a rather tasty looking brownie of less than 2 lbs. It coughed up more bread than I'd put in! Made me realise the half loaf of stale bread i'd broken up in the water upstream had made it's way without being intercepted.
I carried on for a while fishing maggot but got fed up with bits ragging the bait to skin. I did land a minnow which I notice has become a trending species.
An hour upstream for gonks and I went home more relaxed than of late.

Well first time out in 3 weeks and a BLANKETY BLANK.
Fished the Severn above Bridgnorth that I had been told by a couple people was fishing well for both chub and barbel.
Arrived 5.45am choose a swim that looked good used 2 rods 1 inside and the 2nd middle to 2/3rds out one with meat second pellet, nothing not even a liner swapped things around different hook lengths different pellets nothing had a groundbait mix with micro pellets hemp seed and crushed hemp.

Decided after 2 hours of nothing to move down stream to a swim I have fished the last 3 times and caught as I went to walk away felt something around my boots looked down and picked up approx. 20 ft disguarded line. now in the trash bin.

Arrived second swim around 8.30ish slimmed tackle right down due to the walk river levels up a good foot set up cast out and for 2 hours nothing same routine change things around all I could see were small taps fish attacking feeder but not taking bait.
Not to disheartened as was a lovely morning spent by the river now for the bad part on way home driving down country lane some idiot in a nice new jag decided to drive in middle of road as I came round bend had to swerve hitting the rocks about a foot off the road ripped a hole in front left.
got spare out jacked car up only to find I could not undo the locking wheel nut,
dropped car down had to drive 5 miles to nearest tyre place who only sold part worns cash only left car with them and did a 2 mile round trip on foot to get cash.

To rub even more salt into wounds guy told me about his trips to Severn with his mates on a regular basis.

See thread in barbel section titled excessive or not for that story.

1 good point I cleaned up some dirty litter louts mess from first swim.

:confused::confused::confused:
