Korum accessory chair trolley attachment

I've just got meself one of these. They are indeed incredibly light and best of all have locking front and back legs which should mean no more stranded beetle impressions.

And...

Even I have failed to destroy one as yet, unlike many of its rather unfortunate predecessors :eek:mg:

I shall have to be even more clumsy, at this rate i'll be getting a reputation for being careful and we don't want that! :D

i assume you rate the JRC Stealth chair then Steve. Can you fit the usual attchments to it ie rod rests and side bait tray?

I like the idea of lockable legs. My Robo chair ( middy/kodex) is only 4.5 kilos and comfortable but the back legs have a tendency to telescope back in! This is disconcerting to say the least and I have asked Kodex for two spare rear legs ( just the knuckle, the aluminium pole and the spring and clip) which they are unable/unwilling to do. The chair is out of warranty and I have even offered to pay! I like to have the legs extended as i am more comfortable!

Even new clips and springs would help but they cannot oblige!

Would one of you who own this JRC Stealth chair be so kind as to let me know how high the seat is once fully extended?

I too am in search of a lightweight chair for roving/distant swims where the Korum set-up is not appropriate. I need a chair that will elevate my rear end at least 42 cm from the ground.

I have an old and battered Leeda 2xl chair which is perfect but unfortunately the leg extension locking buttons have self destructed and I can't see any way of fixing them.

having looked at the JRC chair , its legs look exactly the same as mine. How are they lockable? On mine it is the clip/spring bit that gives causing the leg to telescope back in. A kind soul on here recommended taking out the steel clip and inverting before putting it back. This has worked on one back leg and I may need to do it on the other. I wouldn't call this " mechanism" a lock as such. I believe the clip angle stops the leg from moving but if the clip moves the leg collapses.

Most chairs i have looked at ( not the Korum) have identical mechanisms! I do need to lose quite a few pounds but that is not the issue+.

There are a few adverse comments on A****n and one comment states the true weight of the chair is 4.5 kilos and not 3!

Back to the drawing board!

Stuck on the chuffin M25 somewhere between Heathro
Right. I've only just got mine so its not had the full Skippy field test but initial impressions are favourable.

1. I've no idea what 42 cm is in old money but I'll happily measure it when I get home.

2. It hasn't got anything to hang/clip/slide/glue/nail any accessories on so you'd need to add some of those universal accessory fitting jonnies if that's what you want to do. I've no idea if they are any good. I tried the Middy version on another chair....they worked but I wasn't really happy with the end result and I really do not like gizmo chairs anyway. The slightest wriggle and everything moves and there are loads more things to knock/trip over. A nightmare for anybody with Binka tendencies I would have thought.

3. I care not what it actually weighs. It is very light. Considerably lighter than any other chair I own except [maybe] the JRC X-Lo which is a low chair as opposed to an upright like the Stealth.

I'm still getting used to the lack of armrests. Its probably OK if you are used to armrest free chairs but I'm not so atm I'm kind of sitting down from a bit too far away and putting my hands down for an armrest that's not there. I'll have to get used to it or its beetle time again.

I'd like a bit more padding but probably because I am blessed with a naturally bony ar$e. How it would be on a long session I couldn't say...I don't tend to do them.

The angle of the back of the chair is fixed & not adjustable but what do you expect ? By lockable legs I mean locked to the frame so the chair cannot fold up without permission. The legs themselves telescope so at its highest setting my knees are horizontal as opposed to up round my ears as they are in most low chairs. This is good.

Biggest plus is the simplicity, the locking legs and the weight. Its a very decent allrounder IMO.

It falls a bit short I'm afraid, with the legs fully extended the horizontal tube is around 38cm off the ground but factor in the sag when you sit in it and you're probably nearer 35cm.

Mike...

I've just weighed my chair on two different scales which I know to be accurate and it came to bang on 7lb with both so nowhere near 4.5kg.

Sorry, I missed you earlier question from yesterday about the accessories but Skip's covered it.

Ultimate do an I-Range of universal accessories which includes all sorts of useful things from a feeder arm to side tray, I had quite a few of them at one time and the only one I didn't rate was the side tray as it suffered from the notorious sag.

I bought mine from Climax, Chesterfield who stocked a full range back at the time.

They have a few different length and useful bar types though and I regularly use the one below as a butt rest for the rod as I can position it anywhere along the frame where it's located, in order to help get the tip down to the water surface.

All their accessories use the same clamp which comes with and additional rubber collar to take up any slack on thinner frames, I keep the clamp on all the time and just swing it around when not in use and add the attachment whenever I need it...

This is the simple locking mechanism, it's a pull out knob with a spring loaded pin...

I have to say that, considering my record for quickly wrecking chairs, I had serious concerns about buying anything so light and it has gone the longest period of time without failure out of all of them and is showing no signs of any problems at all, I find it comfortable too even if I do occasionally prop the back up slightly by putting a brolly peg under where the back frame meets the lower frame.

Thanks for taking the trouble Steve! My chair has the same locking mechanism for the legs and I have had no problem with that. It is the telescopic bit i have isssues with!

As the rain is going to spoil my opportunity for a record breaking tench haul ( stop laughing Tigger) tomorrow, i will have a good look at my chair and see if I can "fettle it";)
