For as long as I can remember I have used drennan specimen+ as a hooklength material.
Sadly for me it was discontinued years ago. As my stocks dwindled I turned to preston reflo power, and for 90% of my fishing I'm very happy with it.
It's brilliant for float and whip fishing.
However when feeder fishing I find it has a tendency to pigtail around the swivel/ quick change adaptor/ feeder boom etc.
I never fish to the clip but prefer to feather my feeder down.
So can anyone recommend a slightly stiffer but similar hooklength material. (If that's not an oxymoron)

No fluorocarbon please, tried it several times in different brands and hated it.

Edited to add: I am looking at breaking strains of between 2lb to 5lb.

Silstar matchteam, please try it up to 6.6lb,be like most matchmen are these days and go by diameter,I use it from 0.10mm(2.6lb) up to 10.1lb,though if I'm proper barbel fishing I use Super Specialist in 10lbs b.s.,which is very strong and robust(I bought three 300m spools when I heard it was being discontinued)...I find Preston Reflo too limp which causes it to twist easily on running water and feeder fishing, also I find it needs changing very regularly when bagging...

I had Silstar Matchteam from .08 to .22 for many years, and I still use it. I swapped the lighter breaking strains for Dave Harrell's Rig Line a few years ago, and that has also proved completely reliable and surprisingly tough, considering it's less wiry than the Silstar. The Silstar is likely the better option for your feeder application.

One other thing, the limbless of reflow gets good reviews,I'm not so sure it promotes good presentation, after all when we cast out we feather and stop our floats/leads before entry to the water which lays the line out away from the terminal tackle,so this slightly more steely thing of Silstar actually helps to achieve this, limbless encourages tangling on a poor cast, none of us are perfect...

Alan, I couldn't agree more with your comments about preston reflo.
Initially I thought the suppleness would help, but I have often found it more of a hindrance especially on the feeder.
