I've had a recount and I still make the numbers equal, but unfortunately the pub can't do evening meals or accomodation on the 4th so the date has to be the 11th.

Latest list for SATURDAY 11th DECEMBER:

Eddie
Chavender
Ron
JK
Spiders
Posh Paul
Graham
Sean
Sean's mate Pete (ringer)(not Ringer)

Still plenty of room for some more!

Breakfast is at 8.00 and will cost £5.00

I've booked the same stretch as last time for the match at £3.00 per peg.

Accomodation can be booked seperately at the pub

Please let me know the following:

If you want breakfast

If you want to fish the match

If you want an evening meal

I need to let the pub know the numbers asap

I'll probably stay over Friday and Saturday night.

No match for me, unless I can pick my spot due to the dodgy banks.

But that won't go down too well so you had better keep me out of the match.

We can pick a nice spot for you Ron!!!!

I'm sure we can make allowances for dodgy banks - ....... but you're not having that "inlet" peg just below the bridge that Steve and Wendi lived in last year:D:wh

Right the meals and the match length are booked. Those who don't want to fish the match will be able to roam below the bridge for the price of the match fee.

Both the pub and the match venue are flexible on numbers so if anyone else wants to come just let me know.

The Landlord of the Haxey Gate will do us a deal on accomodation for those who want to stay over.

Just one small point left to resolve:

Who's got the trophy?

Right folks, things are looking iffy weather-wise. What I'll do is check with the owner of the stretch we're fishing on Wednesday afternoon and make a decision then on whether or not we fish. If the banks are OK we'll fish, if not I'll cancel.

At the moment I cannot get my car out of my street due to the height of the snow and the density of the pack ice underneith. The council will not grit it.

There are temperatures predicted at minus 12 and minus 10 on Monday and Tuesday this week. And that will be in the daytime.

If this weather continues I will not be able to go. The river will most likely be frozen too, to say nothing of the local stillwaters.

Therefore I will wait until we get a bit of mild weather which might be next week, then I will go at short notice.

I will keep in touch.

---------- Post added at 17:59 ---------- Previous post was at 17:47 ----------

Having consulted the long range weather forcast it looks like Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the week after next will be OK. That will give quite a few days for a thaw to set in and clear the ice.

That's when I think I'll be going!

I've had a (very expensive, as he's in Egypt!) chat with the owner and the pub and I'm going to cancel the event as it's unlikely the banks will be in any fit state for us to fish safely.

What I'll do is post another thread with some proposed dates (last week in Jan first week in Feb?) and see if we can rearrange.

I think this is the only logical thing to do Sean.

I will be watching the weather and if we can get 2 weeks where everthing can thaw and the snow melt can fully run off, the river will fish it's *******s off!
