Downstream of the roadbridge is controlled by the Ranmoor angling club of Sheffield, both the lake and the river idle from said roadbribge to the railway bridge.
Upstream I'm not sure if any club has control of it so it may be down to you asking around.
Thank you for the information, very much appreciated Next time I visit my daughter I will try and ask around as you suggest

I have not been able to go fishing for over 6 months. I dislocated my shoulder in February following a fall, and I still can't use my left arm, and being lefthanded it's very difficult doing anything. Hospital on Thursday 25/08/22 and doctors are talking about possibly fitting me with a new shoulder joint. I hope not, but I have a lot of pain, so I will have to leave it up to them

Really sorry to hear that old fisher.
The fishing will have to wait, the main thing is getting better.
All the very best for a good outcome!

Sorry to jump on this thread but a few of you guys seem to have much experience and knowledge of the idle so may I ask this, are there and stretches day ticket or club book that has access to next or very near the river, as one guy said it's I venue I myself have over looked for years but now I have slightly more time so I want to really give it a go over the next 12 months or longer, my problem is my disability which isn't getting any better hence the need for being able to park near my peg.
Any help or guidance will be much appreciated.

Polish ivor hi, wherabouts near the Idle are you intending to fish, the upper, middle or lower sections, it's difficult to suggest an area without the information with you having a disabillity?

Hi Flightliner, I don't mind the travel from Rotherham if I can find the right stretch, my disability restricts what I can lift/carry and how far I can walk which is not very far due to the joint pains it causes, thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks for the response Ivor, head out to "gringley on the hill" thro Bawtry and this side of Gainsboro but taking care of the "speks" speed camaras.
At the top of the hill look out for sign on the left saying "Haxey" go left thro the village, follow your nose to Haxey, go over the bridge (it spans the idle) as soon as you are over there's a road to the right. Take that and theres a gentle bend to the right where you can park. Go over the floodbank and you'll see a big caravan site.
You've arrived- easy parking, and nice comfortable fishing.
Enjoy!

Ivor I've fished a few times now and nobodies been around for money, I think it may be free fishing but still not sure??
Just go, take a chance ask someone you meet on the bank or walking along it for information wether or not it's free, club or day ticket.
