Some of the top destinations for fly fishing are also some of the most beautiful places in the world. Over the next couple of months, locations such as New Zealand, Brazil, Panama, Mexico and Florida, will have you finding fish such as marlin, Atlantic sailfish, blackfish tuna, tarpon and swordfish.
Below is our very own John Stephenson with a Bonefish that he caught on a trip to the Florida Keys!
Are you armed with your Sage, Thomas and Thomas, Loop and Orvis rods? From 8 and 9 weights for bonefish up to poker like ‘fly rods’ in 12 and 14 weight (and even 16 weight) for such as striped marlin and tuna. Always take a spare rod as saltwater fly fishing can be brutal! Try out a large and angry Giant Trevally in a heavy surf! Many of these rods and reels can equally be used in the UK for salmon, trout, pike, bass etc. and even sharks and bluefin tuna!

This rare Partridge of Redditch, England travel fly rod is in fine condition. For line rated #10. With a packed length 24″ tube this is ideal for the travelling angler as the name suggests. Blue grey blank, high quality carbon fibre. Overfit joints and shaped cork handle with light alloy reel screw fitting. The rod comes with two factory screw in cork fighting butt extension handles. Crisp action. A good all-round rod for single hand salmon or saltwater fishing. Comes in maker’s original cloth bag and Partridge triangular cordura zip top tube with carry sling.
Loop Color Concept Blue Line Salt 9ft 3” 3-piece, adapted graphite fly rod
A Loop Color Concept Blue Line Salt 9’ 3” 3-piece adapted graphite fly rod in as new condition. Line #8, model code LBLSW893-3. It has lined butt and stripper rings, 7” cork handle with twin-screw reel fitting and fighting butt. Light-weight fast action powerful rod, excellent for Flats fishing down The Keys, comes with makers original bag and cordura tube with an adjustable shoulder sling.
Sage Xi2 9ft 4-piece carbon saltwater fly rod #9
A top-quality Sage Xi2 fly rod in fine condition. Model code 990-4-4-1/4oz. 9′ 4-piece rod for line rated #9. With a packed length of only 28.5″, this is ideal for the travelling angler. Graphite blue blank with lined butt and stripper guides, snake intermediates. Sage is still regarded as one of the best saltwater fly rod makers. Overfit joints and shaped cork handle with black twin screw light alloy reel fitting. Crisp action. In superb condition, with no faults. Comes in maker’s original cloth bag and screw top alloy tube.
Abel USA Super 4 saltwater fly reel
A fine Abel, USA Super 4 saltwater fly reel in black. It has seen very little, if any, use. With wood effect handle, rear disc adjuster, large internal cork disc drag, left hand retrieve. Retains all original finish. Reel made by Abel for Frank Dufficy. Fitted with floating fly line and backing. Comes in Abel original cordura reel case.
Loop Sweden Multi 9/12 large arbor fly reel
A fine Loop Sweden Multi 9/12 hi tech alloy salmon fly reel. 4.5” diameter, 50mm across frame, counterbalanced single rubber handle, click on the outrun, Power Matrix Drag System, the reel is in superb condition with only a few tiny marks, fitted with ST8/9 line and backing, comes in makers cordura case.
