Fair enough Spoddy, but why the extended range that some of them are capable of?

I prefer to have my alarm volume off and have the reciever on low enough so only i can hear it.

As for Cakey stating tackle tart, hmmmmm, not me, never have been but obviously one himself.....

"fox........delks look and sound sh*t"

That's understandable Wol, when I had bi tech vipers I used to tape the speaker up, so it was very low.

Not sure why they have made them with extended range's Baz,does seem strange why they boast that in the specs.

The furthest safe distance would be the next swim,if close enough.

The good thing about the Delk Pro plus receiver is that you can have the alarm heads and receiver muted and wait for the "vibes" from your pocket. Luvly.
Doesn't upset anyone else when you get a run.

The nightlite feature seems a good idea too.
The betalights for fox are expensive ?8.99 for two.

To be honest, the reason I asked was because a couple of years ago I collared a bloke for being about 50 yds away from his baited rods.

With a sparkly smile on his face, he said it's okay mate, iv'e got a reciever.
So I said recieve this then and gave him a written warning.

Must admit though, the other carp lads said oh yeah??? and I suppose it strikes your rods automatically for you as well.

I suppose the answers from you lads means I will have to look elsewhere for an argument then??
I'm on the prowl. (o

I aint got purple haze, I got the three colour ones.

1000 times better than my old top of the range Fox alarms.

For the uninitiated (me basically) can someone please explain why I should pay ?120 each for a bite alarm?? And no I'm not being sarcastic, I'm just interested. Wol and Rik clearly feel they are worth the investment but in what respect are they 1000 times better than a Fox alarm (or any other)??

build quality
reliability
adjustability
battery usage
longevity
backed up by a quality company that just specialises in bite alarms and isn't just re-badging imported foreign shit

Like anything in fishing, you have to justify the expense, ?100 odd pound each for Fox ones, or the same price for Delkims, in my mind is no contest.
?100 odd pound or ?25 for a cheap one, is down to how much you use them and for you to justify.

Battery, reliabilty and imho test of time, i've had both, Delk originals converted by Del himself with the reed switch (brilliant thinking) others trail behind jumping on the wagon.

How many 'types' of delkim do you see???

One is the answer, cause its the best and you pay decent money to have the best.

Blam i've bought several different alarms in the past, and they have all let me down in some way.

Usually water getting to the them.

If these delkim alarms are reliable and last longer then ill be happy to pay the price for them at the end of the day.

(1000 times better)

Ric is obviously convinced they are the best by far.

You will find with the cheaper ones, when they pack up, you have to buy new ones. Delkims can be repaired.

I expect my pair of Delkims to last the rest of my life.

Most of the cheap ones use the wheel system which is totally retrograde as far as I can see. Mine cost me ?85 each.

By the way never look directly into the Delkim LEDs. It will harm your eyes!

No moving parts at all,on the delkims.

Thats where the water seems to get in by the wheels.
