I think Mick (Flightliner) on here uses one. If he sees the thread he can probably comment.
Just found it Kev. When you rang the other day about it I thought it was to be used specifically for carp but apparently other species will also be targeted,, Tench Bream and the like so will answer Doebel—
I'm a big fan of rods with dual tips.
When I saw them advertised at Chapmans in Scunthorpe I shot over to check them out, there were three versions, a 1-25, a 1-75 and a 2lb tc.
I tried them all and found the 1-25 not to my liking, in short a sloppy kind of action, the 2lb tc was too stiff for my needs (same as yours bar the carp) but the 1-75 was spot on so bought a pair.
Since buying them I've had big catches of bream, tench, chub, roach and perch with the odd, not looked for carp and barbel.
Most with the avon tip but tench roach using the quiver tip section, often on the Trent for the roach and stillwaters for tench using feeders.
They have never let me down and are a pleasure to use, they have a nice playing action and if I lost them both I wouldnt hesitate to replace them if they are still made.
Hope this helps.

Hello Mick, thanks for your input. You are talking about twin tip rods. This was maybe the modell before the actuell barbel specialist rod.
I just came across the rod, because a friend of mine got a new shimano purist barbel for a product evaluation. Somebody in the inner circle told him the qualitiy and the design of the sonik barbel rods are superb for a rod in this price class.
I made a quick search and found AD in UK offering a 1,75 and 2 lbs version.
AD in Germany has a separate homepage due to the brexit offering the 2 lbs version only.

Sometimes the rods of different generations are rolled on the same mandrel (the most expensive part in the rod design, therefore used for multiple uses. They often use different carbon clothing with only minor effects on action of the rod.
(I have a series 7 carp feeder in 11ft. and red range carp feeder 11ft. - almost the same dimensions of blank diameter and action)

It could be the same for the predecessor sonik twin tip as for the actual rod, it could be also a new designed mandrel.
Mick if you come across the new barbel rod in a shop give it wiggle and you can surely compare it to your modell.

Thanks so far and a fishy weekend

Today my friend showed me the new Purist barbel BX1 in 12ft./1,75 lbs. A quite nice rod, selling price around 50£.
I would rate the test curve a bit above the rated 1,75lbs with a semiparabolic action. Enough backbone to control a barbel close to a snag.
Mick , this rod would also be a good comparison for the soniks, because I had it in my hands now.

SHIMANO also makes a bit more expansive BX3 , but I dont know the difference to the BX1

The whippings on the BX1 are black with bright green trimmings, 3inch white tip and 9+1 guides and a solid cork handle.
If somebody wants further information, just ask.

The cork handle seems to be not solid. If you press it hard, it compresses like very dense memory foam, so i guess its foam covered with a cork layer.
