Shame it's at Farnborough, it seems all angling shows these days are fair treks away, nothing in London, which is an easy train ride for many, or other cities, seems a pointless journey for probably just looking...

I went yesterday, never again! I went with my son and in a weird way we really enjoyed it!? It was packed, too busy to properly look at anything. I was amazed at so much interest in bait boats and their accessories - mind you I would rather someone near me used a boat instead of the endless spodding! I remember in the 70s and 80s tackle shops stocking very few items of carp stuff now it's the other way round. Years ago I should have started a bait company - the mugs pay vast amounts of money for little round balls then throw it in a lake - it's brilliant business!
Whitty, I did manage to have a brief waggle of the new Normark Titan and Microlites, felt right especially the Microlite.

I went yesterday and thought the organisation was a shambles only one gate was open and had to queque for 40minutes to get in. In fact those who paid on the day actually got into the hall quicker. We eventually found the small Normark booth which was tucked behind the Dynamite stand. The Normark guys were very helpful and allowed us plenty of time to play with the rods which are nicely finished. I think the rods are more powerful than the originals. The Avenger which I was initially interested in is certainly far too powerful for roach it seemed to have been designed with barbel in mind. The Microlite is a lovely soft rod but I think they are missing a trick being only being available in 12ft. The Titan and Avenger are available in 13ft and 12ft to 14ft with the longer length bring acheived with the dolly section which didn't seem to affect the action of the rod. It is a sign of the times that the show was carp and Lure fishing based with little else. Having said that we enjoyed the day and sitting out in the warm sunshine sipping out Capachinos was bliss even though we were ripped off to the tune of £4.50 for a small cup.

Go for a days county cricket at Lord's or the Oval Hugh (not tests), the prices are disgusting... but at the Big One it's the people who own the showground who charge the exorbitant ground rent.....

You are probably right Alan. It's a few years since I went to Lords but found the food then good quality and not unreasonably priced.

Too be honest I find it difficult to source any website to scan the Normark bumph, most odd with a new product...add to this that at present very few tackle dealers will be stocking them apparently, leaving a big round trip hoping to compare actions for personal use, I fear Normarks venture back will be short lived, I hope not, but...

I think it's early days Alan. They are still working on their dealer network

Yeah, I agree, but at £310 a chuck it is an isolated customer base, so how many rods will they risk releasing, if I travelled to Benwick Sports I would want to see the entire range to compare, but I suspect they won't have many, so will sell as a customer pays, so I would probably end up waiting for God....
