A 'loose cannon'

Sad to say Fred but 'APATHY RULES' only 1,209 signatures now,we really enjoy a sport that the majority dont give a toss.:confused:

Not just 'APATHY'. :(

I maintain that Keith Arthur, in his weekly AT column, effectively killed this petition for the bizarre reason that it didn't call for custodial sentences for offenders.

There's an ally we could all do without.

Couldn't agree more salmonella, but not certain he holds that much sway,he certainly don't help by nit picking.

There is another petition going on, about the potential sell off by British Waterways of the canal network.
Last time I looked it had 6500 signatures, seems to me the boat owners care about the use of canals, than anglers do about fishing itself!

APATHY does indeed RULE .

The thing is salmonella maybe as an afterthought the petition should have mentioned 'realistic' penalties, which would have left it open to the petitioners interpretation,it shouldnt matter for every angler should back it to show a united front, but there you go.:(

William, your guess is as good as mine, ive rung 'fishermans blues' ,with no support there, ive e-mailed a letter to the magazine CAT(which i would have thought might have brought a burst of support, but it seems not).My feelings remain unchanged, the people who think they are anglers, but have not supported this petition are not worthy of the name.

I've also signed the petition, the polluters won't stop until it really hits the companies bottom line, then and only then will they stop
Your right John,i wonder how big this company is,because if it is a smallish company and goes bankrupt rather than pay its fine and kicks off again under a different name, then all is lost.

Possibly so William, but as i said earlier in this thread, some friends, workmates and relatives have entered this petition,so incensed were they when i told them, they read up info on the net and bingo, and one thing,67,000 supposedly have access to this site alone,so where are those useless ba****ds.

No, not long to go. :(

Will someone 'save' names of the petitioners to cross-reference against Angling Trust (old ACA) officials. I doubt many (any?) signed.

I don't know what their misguided agenda is/was; but I hope they answer to the membership.
It is inconcieveable that they were all unaware of the petition. :(

I believe Salmonella that, they, the trust hope that a custodial sentance will be passed(would be nice),so dont want to affect 'fish legals' case profile, but i believe that when this petition closes in a few days time, the government and water companies will be laughing their bo***cks off at such a pitiful response,oh well we can but try.

Yes - I can see why AT/Fish Legal directors would have to be seen to be impartial.

But not others within the "industry", and I don't just mean 'Ambassadors' and those on advisory panels which have no legal connection unless the constitution has been changed.
I mean: tackle manufacturers, retailers, clubs, publications, etc. The list is endless, best not mention forum owners though.
In fairness to Keith Arthur: he did explain his reasoning in his weekly column - I rather thought that any custodial sentencing, surely the perogative of Crown Court judges, could have come later, after public indignation had the petition been rather more successful.

I hope someone will save the names, in alphabetical order, so someone can say: "We told you so" after it is all too late.
