The two are not mutually exclusive. I might have misunderstood the word 'or', but are you really suggesting that anyone who doesn't drink alcohol and reaches a good age, can't possibly have had a good life?

I'm as chilled as a cucumber (edit: make that a glass of Stella) this morning, which is why I might have been slow off the mark. It was precisely because I didn't want to be 'swift to make an argument' that I asked if I'd misread you. Thanks for the clarification... argument avoided?
