Drennan have brought some new hooks out and as far as I am aware new hooks to nylon, some 4" ones as well
. I can't comment on how good the hooks are because I haven't seen them or used them ,Same goes for hooks to nylon .

Just in case I may have inadvertently offended!
My choice of wording in my previous post may have been poor, so just to be clear, when I said “ seems wrong to reach for a (barbed) hook” I did not mean to imply that it is wrong to use barbed hooks. I have just got so used to using barbless, using a barbed hook would feel strange for me. I still carry loads of barbed hooks and would use them if I felt the situation required them.

I started using barbless when grayling fishing since I found them difficult to unhook.
No offence taken. Just don't like using barbless hook, just more chance of losing a fish in my experience. Each to their own.

I do loose fish, I find some trout come off, but I don’t mind that, most other fish stay on. Yesterday I had a chub snag me in some submerged bank-side vegetation, it all went solid and I guessed I had lost it. I gave it some slack, nothing happened so I was convinced it was gone and I started pulling the dead stems out to get my tackle back. A flash in the water told me the chub was still attached. Against all the odds I got it!
Not evidence that barbless hooks hold well, I was just unbelievably lucky.
