Of course the handle is of little importance and doesn't normally affect the performance of the rod. The early Drennan rods were great but the cheap plastic rings for securing the reel were terrible. The 14ft IM9 is my favourite float rod I picked one up second hand but it was very expensive when it came out over thirty years ago fitting the cheap fittings was penny pinching in the extreme. The handle is of little importance compared to what happens in front of it to me. I hold the bit where the reel fits and don't think much about the rest apart from perhaps wiping off mud and bait traces at the end of the session.
