Mike are you sure you're not 'guesting' at Lord Arbuthnot's as it would appear there is a giant water fountain on your pond?

Fun half day in the sunshine on the Wolds. Pin and strawberry paste to start then hammered them on the plastic dog biscuit whilst feeding the real thing. 15 in total. Thats enough for me.

Rather lack lustre day on the Dam yesterday. They don't seem to have switched back on since the Bream spawning. Fished from 8am til 4pm with two rods. A slider at around 35M in 10'+ on a 16 and regular waggler at around 12M in 7'6" on an 18. Ground bait on both spots switching between the two plus loose feed at 12M. The only fish that came out on the slider happened to be the best, a Roach at around 7oz. 24 Roach in all and mostly in the 2:3 oz range. At least it was dry and being in the shade, not too hot.

Further to my earlier I got the light cluster replaced today and the part alone cost £135 !!!!! Trust me to drive a car that's as common as you like except for the estate version which is what I've got !

Still working on ideas for an effective coot repellant .At the moment a heavily disguised air rifle is winning.

I take a loaf of cheap bread with me 35p job.. I tear off bits and throw them as far as possible to an area to the right or left of me. All the ducks will tear off after it and if you keep throwing bits thay will stay there waiting for the next bit. I have to throw bits less often as time goes by as they will stay in that area once they get the idea. Bit like ground baiting for fish. Keeps my casting area clear.

A little trip the other day on the beach, sea was good, very clear and hoping for a bass. There is a spot next to the harbour where every one catches bass. Every time I talk to someone they tell me how they catch bass after bass there but I never have had one. Started the day with a one of the best burgers in town and then a pint of guiness, first mistake. Second mistake couldnt be bothered to go too the tackle shop to get some sandeels as my intention was to float fish them in the spot. So, stopped off at the fish market looking for a mackeral as bait but ended up with a poor whiting which the bloke gave me, nice like that some people. Put some strips on and cast out propping the rod in the chair then fell asleep for 2 hours. The bait was still on untouched when I reeled in. Rule 1 and 2 dont be so lazy and leave the burger and guiness until after.

However, the sea still seems to be dead, nothing being caught here for some time

Its weird, not that far from Ramsgate sea wise, spoke to a few on the jetty the last few days and not even a bite, literally nothing. Some good spots with rocks etc and some nice looking sea but nothing happening. So its not just me being useless. Ah well, just the way it is. I will get my act together a bit more and concentrate and hope the fish come in next month. Nice bass you had earlier and some good bites, the pupils overtaken the teacher:)

Went to my usual Saturday morning haunt today and was enjoying a sunny spring morning when my phone pinged.
A message from Rob.
Half an hour later he was there.

Fishing was patchy but we both had a few on our wagg and magg rigs..

Left the sea behind for a few hours on the estate today, only one present and with intermittent showers up with a brolly pronto.

Got it up just in time as the heavens opened for a quick but heavy shower.

Wasn’t too long before it was blue skies and and fluffy white clouds.

A tough six hours with a smattering of perch, roach, Rudd and of course skimmers and bream, tench and crucians once again refusing to show.

Tried numerous baits including chick peas which I haven tried for a while, zero interest.

A disappointing session but getting home I was greeted with a nice delivery on the doormat.

A very precious and rare playlist constructed by Bracket, I’ve got many hours of enjoyable listening ahead of me.

This illustrates exactly what FM is all about, friendships, generosity and camaraderie, long may it continue and let no individual darken our door.

Thanks Pete.

Edit.... subsequently realised this was posted the same time as Simon's a few posts above

Today was a trip down the canal where I guessed Peter Crabtree would be down my local cut of the canal so after I gave him a bell I joined up with Simon for a few hours of chat and fishing. He had had a few nice roach by the time I joined but it was slow throughout the day to be honest.

The day was split between good banter and the odd good fish but we had to work for it a bit, I had a decent hybrid when he popped to the supermarket, then it was the odd perch, roach and many chublets here and there for both of us before Simon had a good perch

I had a couple of nice roach later on and between us we somehow managed to get all the main species including the ol' ruffe who are always welcome, and there was the usual towpath/canal boat scenery with joggers boaters and the like especially that girl on the boat ;)

Club fixture today on the Aylesbury arm in Aylesbury town centre.
18 turned up to fish the venue which last year suffered a fish kill, fortunately losses weren’t too numerous as it’s always a bit of a struggle anyway.

I was relieved to find I’d drawn on a feature in the form of an overhanging bush.

Top 3+2 was long enough to poke my rig into the branches, liquy and punch accounted for a steady run of small roach. My meticulously tied rig was performing like a dream until a rogue gust of wind flipped it into a branch and trashed it completely!
It always seems to happen when I have a good rig.
The replacement wasn’t too disappointing and I continued to catch some better roach, by better I mean 4oz instead of 2oz....
A while later I started getting some bites I couldn’t hit?
Hit it eventually and it didn’t fight much until I tried to unhook it!

Ended up with 2lb:6oz which put me 7th.
Winner had some bream for 9:9:0.
