A good excuse to get up to date, but a factory reset will most likely iron out any bugs. Just make sure to do a backup to icloud first.

I went to a club lake at Edenbridge this morning. It’s a quite prolific lake in the summer but today was a proper grueler. The car park was pretty crowded for a week day, there was probably more anglers as the rivers are well up at the moment. I had four small roach and I think that was four more than anyone else had. It’s a mixed fishery and there are some fairly large carp, barbel and tench, so I am loath to fish too fine as you are liable to get snapped up. Just before I packed up I picked up a bonus carp of 12lb 2oz which put my Drennan Floatmaster through some rather interesting angles to say the least. I believe they have been discontinued which is a shame. Some anglers don’t like them as they have single leg rings up to the tip excepting the first ring. I have Acolytes and Free Spirit rods but I prefer the action of the Floatmaster over them all. The carp picked up a little finger nail sized piece of rolled bread encrusted with Lo-salt, over liquidised bread. I was using four pound b/s line with three pound hook length to a sixteen barbless animal hook.

A good day and good company as usual with mikench yesterday despite the weather. Really cold and wet first thing and after a couple of hours with nothing to show I thought we were in for a blank then along comes Mr Common in 41" of very clear water, most unexpected. First one snapped me off in a snag, landed the second, around 3lb+, third just threw the hook, still no sign of anything else. Mike helped me retrieve one of my floats with his version of markg's post Old tip for retrieving hook from trees., worked a treat on the end of a landing net handle. Started picking up a few Roach as it warmed up. Looking forward to better weather. Took a pic of Mike hauling Carp but it didn't turn out very well.

Simple report from me. Yesterday I was up on the canal (which anyway would be the only place at the moment).
So windy! Even a 30 gr feeder and a strong tip didn't let me fish correctly.
The stretch I planned to fish was taken, and I crossed a few anglers. I suppose everyone got the same idea to enjoy the only dry day on the only possible water.
But it was too hard at least for me, and about 45 min later, I was back in the car!

Having almost been blown off the river on Thursday during my walk I kept a close eye on it. Yesterday it was up a bit and coloured but I figured that when the wind dropped this afterrnoon it would be fishable. So it proved. I set up with a big Avon float (4.5 gram bulk), 14 hook and bread punch over groundbait. The roach came in fits and starts but after three hours I'd had 70 to 1-5 plus a 10oz dace. The wind wasn't too bad though gusted at times and nearly always downstream; shades of tackling the same swim here: YouTube

As the afternoon wore on the river dropped a couple of inches and the colur went from brownish to green/brown.

Many of the roach had cormorant marks including this 12oz one.

No fishing for me, but I did go for a wade around my syndicate lake.

First time out for me for a good while, thanks to **** weather amongst things.
Mate has a ticket for Pixies Mere Fishery at Bourne End, so he took me as a guest.

Quck look around and decided to setup at the far end of the lake and fish towards a sunkend tree.

He spodded out a good mix of sweetecorn and crushed boiles and we fished two marks around the tree.

I was fishing my usual Guru Method feeder and within half and hour, the reel was singing.....picked the rod up and slowed the drag.....then the fish just parked up.
It just wasnt moving.At all. Never seen a fish do this, so we passed the round a tree to change the angle of attack, and that the little ****** moving.....after about 15 minutes we had this little chap on the bank....A new PB for me at 14.2...

Anyways, after a number of semi decent Bream, it seems like the Carp had moved on, so we swapped to a different swim, deeper water, more overgrown and much tighter generally. My mate was laughing that I would into a fish before he'd finished making another rig......sure enough, wham, rod flys round and nearly goins into the water.....reign it in and have a good scarp with a fish that really did not want to come and see us......
End result, was the second, and yet another PB for me ....17.2 !

Great day on the bank, and just nice to back by the water after the last weeks of storms etc....

Went yesterday on small river stretch,never fished before peg,I wanted to fish stick float for chub(the downstream gale made it iffy),anyway I set up a 5 no.4 stick and had a go,second trot a 3lb plus chevin,then the wind picked up a notch and it lashed down,float fishing became impracticable so I set up the Darent valley three quarters of a pound test curve on the feeder,christ what fun,had nine more chub between two and three and a half pounds,with the tip flying round and the rod bent double in the fight,a very pleasurable day indeed....

Although still pushing through the Colne was a different river Saturday. The peg that had been so productive last week didn’t produce a single bite? Despite my arrival at 9:30 I learnt that 2 other anglers had fished it earlier that morning. Hmmm?

I moved upstream and tried 2 different spots, the second produced this small dace.

That was it, I persisted until 4pm before leaving.

Yesterday’s fixture on the Thames at Shillingford was off due to flooding so we had a knock up at Lakeside. The bottom lake.

With the wind and rain straight in the face and no chance of putting a brolly up, I struggled.
Slider with maggot got me a few bites but the tow made it difficult to present my bait effectively.
Later, after midday, the wind subsided a bit and the sun came out.

During the last 10 minutes of the match the roach switched on, too late for me.
Had just 13oz....
