The reasoning behind having a barbel section is two-fold.
1. Because the barbel is a very popular species, especially with the users of this web site and in particular the forum.
2. So that those who don't particularly like barbel can keep off the section and have their discussions in those sections they do like and approve of.
Nobody is making anybody come onto the barbel section and take part in any of the discussions.
Nobody has deleted any other section to make way for the barbel section.
What's the problem?

i think the general idea was that if you didn't want to read anything concerning barbel blox then best not to click on "Barbel Fishing"?

I don't think Bob's thread was entirely to do with Barbel fishing, and neithe ris the Barbel Society thread.
I think they both had hidden agendas.

dot matter if its barbel, carp, tench,bream, 3lb roach as long as people like to debate about how they had cought them ,how they came across the venue etc.
each person out there deserves to have a specific forum to talk about there angling preferance!
i hope this site realy does well as i hope all the fishing related sites do.

Also somebody did ask for a Barbel only thread last year, and it was turned down, as only so much information could be covered.
In other words it was not considered a wide enough subject on its own.
