I've had a few catfish up to 140cm in a Bob Church Reservoir folding trout net, but it was when wading so no lifting it out of the water. When in the boat I either drag them out by the mouth or the time I got a really big one on I beached the boat and dragged it up the bank. Fortunately the boat had been anchored to the bank during the fight. If it hadn't I would have just followed the catfish wherever it chose to take me. I saw a young French lad in a tiny boat being pulled all over the Vienne one afternoon. That's why I always tie mine to something or drop a heavy anchor.
