My sincere apologies that the new trophy won't be ready for the launch of the new challenge on September 1st but rest assured there will be one.

I'm thinking, as this is a sticky thread, that the intention is to continue this and future Simon Pavey Memorial Big Perch Challenges here in this thread and it would make sense from a point of less administration as the rules are already listed on page one.

To which effect this needs winning by someone...

I believe that this will be XIII... Who's lucky number will that turn out to be?

I'm happy to kick off with a couple if it encourages others and can start with two gravel pit fish of 3lbs 1oz and 3lbs 3oz caught on waggler fished worm and maggot cocktail...

Whilst it would save me a small fortune on postage come March I really don't want to win a trophy I made so let's see some big Perch getting landed and notable back up fish of lower weights are always well received and appreciated.

Good luck to everyone.

Good luck Ian and tight lines, stillwaters around here are frozen solid and the Trent is four times its Summer level.

Will you be on the Severn?

Hopefully , it's dropping quite well now so hopefully will be ok . The Llangollen canal near me has a real flow on it and no lid so that's plan B.

Tricky. Lots of smaller ones on light lures before it got so damn cold. My hot tip stillwater was not as hot as I'd hoped , with a handful of perch to nearly two . Sadly , word is out about a previous river hotspot where I'd only encountered one or two discreet anglers. The odd big one's coming out but I won't fish for pressured fish, which I fear they have become. Fingers crossed about my other river hotspot , where I've never seen a single angler after perch because everybody knows it's a rubbish piece of water, an inaccuracy I'm disinclined to correct .

But hope springs eternal.
