Guys Guys.....you really don't need to get tackled up like mad for this one....believe me...you'll catch carp with a broomstick, a piece of string and a bend paper clip there lol.......the carp there are plain greedy


As Neil said....fishery pellets, dipped in fishmeal g/bait....I always caught well covering the pellet with some halibut paste too.

Again a piece of advice...for those who don't fish with a baitrunner...please please set your clutch very light or bye bye to rod and reel

Claudia i hope your right mate ,the last two fish-ins i have blanked so it would be nice to get a bend in the rod .
Can you help me with this sodding pub is it the right one only i would like to book in for the night ?

I predict no-one will blank, not even "Nippi"!

There probably won't be the 100lb+ weights but with reasonable weather, it will be a good day out with plenty of carp caught and more importantly, plenty of other species as well.


Les, yes, both correct. It's the North East border of Hampshire alongside Surrey and just a few miles South of Berkshire! The Lion Brewery is all of 3 or 4 miles away from the fishery.

Also, as Les says. The venue is indeed within the current "lesser" zone for Foot & Mouth. I also work within that zone and have not seen any restricted access on the "normal" roads and area. I assume the "country" roads and paths have a higher level of restriction.

Neil my wife will be coming but not to fish ,i have just booked a room at the pub ,the chap was some foreign gent who was a bit vague to say the least ,got the month wrong twice ,didn`t want a deposit ,didn`t want my address or phone number ,i think that i will bring my bivvie just in case

It's been 20 odd years since I last met Neil and it seems he hasn't changed a bit; still as competitive as ever! All this practising on opens, 100lb bags, pellets dipped in fishmeal etc. etc.

Lol - look out for the red herrings lads! It'll probably be a bloodworm match scratching for eyeballs while we've all been suckered into 8lb direct, baitrunners and gobstoppers on hair rigs dipped in some super dooper flavouring.

Neil, looking at the 3 pictures you put I have a couple of questions.

firstly is that a limited edition fm cap in the first one,

and in the third picture does that go in the silvers keep net and how do you keep it in the net.

Not caught any herrings ( red or otherwise ) from GV, 8lb line and 11mm pellets got me a 148lb bag of carp last time I was there.
