Stop press!!
After sending a lengthy email to the CEO, Steve Gross of FR this lunchtime I have just received a response from his Chief Executive Operating Officer Steve Kyriacou. An even lengthier email comprehensively dealing with all the issues that I have raised.
He was apologetic and frank and assures me changes will be made and for me personally...... a bag should be winging its way towards me tomorrow.....no charge. Let's see if it happens.
Let's hope FR are good to their word.
Despite what has been said already, I am convinced this offer was a mistake, at the price listed - £13.50 would have been a more realistic price. If it was a marketing ploy to get some publicity it has done that but they could have got a similar response if they had made the offer twice the price or just charged for the shipping. I know they say that all publicity is good publicity but that is not always the case and usually claimed by the recipient of the bad.
In this case my bag was sent to me by next day timed and tracked Parcel Force delivery service - That had to be a mistake as it stated 'Economy' delivery on the eBay listing.
Whatever has happened here, as others have mentioned, good on FR for honouring the listing. It is ironic, that poor old John, who highlighted the offer to us all in the first place, ended up missing out on the offer by being told the bag was out of stock and given a refund. I wonder how many others were told the same. Funny how they could find another one after he complained.
This internet selling is a subject that is often highlighted here when it goes wrong, but there must be millions of good transactions that go through without a mention. I have made lots of internet purchases over the years and it is hard to think of many (if any) that have been unsatisfactory in anything other than the odd late delivery, but even then it has only been a matter of days...
