I like Amazon for the sheer convenience of it but it has become increasingly full of tat. You have to do your homework properly before clicking “ buy now” but I do like the fact that I can be pretty certain of getting my stuff the next day. I would shop elsewhere if it wasn’t for all this “ open an account” and “ register now” nonsense.

Visiting a village a couple of weeks ago asked in the local antique shop, "any fishing gear" the nice bloke said he didn't but had a box of stuff at home, come back in a week and he will make sure it was in the shop. So, my mate drove me out there on Friday and he had a big box of sea fishing gear, I sorted these two nice hardly used by the look of it 2 Penn reels and a few other bits, a clonking float, and a couple of those jardine leads and a lure, £20 he said, couldn't refuse. However, thinking back maybe I should have asked the lot but, I am slowly getting buried under a flatful of old gear, they will find me dead one day under it all. Still, a nice bargain, not a lot of use for the reels but might go in a auction with some other stuff as a job lot, should get more than £20. A nice pint in the village pub and a walk round rounded off a good day.

Not of a fishy theme but topical all the same, if anyone's got a B&M nearby they're doing 150 fat balls for the bird feeders for £10.99...

Excuse the cheese grater, I do grate them down and because I'd used the last of last Winter's feed this morning it's there to remind me to take it to work where we feed the birds in the yard during severe conditions and i'll be grating a few down and putting them out before we start tomorrow.

I’ve had a few bits from them. Good company to deal with, very professional.
Exactly my experience Ray. Very prompt. I had to return some walking boots once, but that was my fault really I brought too cheaply, cannot expect good quality for hardly any money. Everything else I have purchased from them has been good. Particularly liked the Jack Pyke Armour Long sleeved top as a base layer.

Go outdoors are doing the Preston top kit safe for £66. 97. Against angling directs price of £99.99, a big saving there.

i use mine for my 10 metre margin pole, top kits, and a landing net handle, there 1metre, 90 centimetres long, and would hold a few rods safely as well, there made of hard plastic, with a full length zip, a carrying handle, and a shoulder strap, light and strong.

That's cheap , I had the PI pole safe one that was over £100.
The Maver and MAP ones I have were over £100 each .

Isn't a 10metre margin pole an oxymoron?
Nope , just because it's 10 metres you don't have to fish it that long .
Or you could have a feature 9 metres along from your peg , and use it for that .
I've used my main pole as margin pole at 15 metres to a corner feature . I have 4 margin poles for different situations . And a main pole that can double up if required

The palette on the next peg is a "feature" on commies. As is the aerator. Or a few strands of scabby grass. And the island, too small to stand on, against which the fish are cowering. Watercraft, Alan, but not as we know it ......:)

I've fished featureless margins either side of me and caught . Between. Right at the side of me to about 3 metres along .
I was using margin features as an example of using a longer pole to reach them along the margins , fishing any length along the bank to a feature or not is still margin fishing . I prefer using a softer elastic then you can "walk" the fish out of the peg into open water . Only time I will use heavy solid elastic is if there are snags in my swim

You missed the cow drinks on narrow canals out kev , very similar to mudline on an island on a commie .
Or moored boats on the opposite bank of a canal or river . Some good fish shelter under those including carp .
I've never fished a commie with an island that size , They are usually more or less full length of the pool .and anywhere between 12 metres and 40 metres away .
