There are bigger around, this only the start of the BIG PERCH Challenge, I would like to catch a bigger Perch, but who knows.

It's only a number, the pleasure comes from trying to catch Perch, big ones are a bonus and if I told you how many small fish you have to catch to connect with a Biggie, you would not believe me.

The Lea Navigation is 23 miles long and anywhere can throw up a lump !!

Interesting- I opened the Anglers Mail this morning and see my face staring back at me ?

I had not put in a photo or report of my capture to the Mail and everything except my name was wrong in the report.

Wrong Weight, Wrong Perch, Wrong Address, Wrong report, I have had numerous Perch over three pounds.

It makes you wonder how many other reports in the Anglers Mail are wrong and how they get their information, do you think they take it from internet sites ?

It's often like that Bob, Over the years I,ve done several bits n bobs for the odd angling mag and it often reads like someone else has written it.

Hi,

Got whopping PB perch of 4lb 10 and three quarter ounces this morning.
Caught it on floatfished dendrabena on the River Derwent.

Thanks for recommending those scales, Bob. I sent off for some on e-bay and have found them very good and easy to use. Only slight drawback is that that they are a bit heavier than my Reubon Heaton scales but great advantage with digital scales is that it tells you the weight and that's it rather than peering at a quivering needle.

Am still buzzing with delight !
Will try and get photos onto forum.

Well done Tony,

What a cracking Perch and I'm glad you like the scales, I change the battery every year as a safe guard against it failing when you most need it.

I have no idea how long the batteries last, I'm sure for ages, but better safe than sorry.

My scales have been checked a couple of times by Weights and Measures and were always spot on, a little larger that some scales, but I have never found that a problem.

Scores on the doors are......

Tony. 4lb:10oz:12dr....

Bob H. 4:6:8.

Jerry. 3:5:0.

Tony's fish is a mere 4dr lighter than the current all time record holder...

3 months to go yet though innit......?

Fishing is a funny ole game. I had three beautiful perch over the 3lb mark last year from my local lake including the perch challenge winner, many others caught by anglers to a similar stamp, this Winter they've gone into hiding.
