I'm sorry Neil, but I just didn't see it as humourous, and still don't. It's OK fooling around with people you know, have met and know how far to go. (A classic example is the banter between Paul Williams and myself). But when you've never met another person how is one supposed to take it, except at face value.
If you intended it to be a joke, then you have to hold your hands up and say 'I was wrong, it back fired'.
But, I still suspect that there is an element of seriousness in your mail judging from your last reply. If that is the case, when you first felt unhappy with our name (and are you speaking personally or is this the thoughts of officialdom within the carp group. As you quote them you need to clarify that), you should have mailed us direct. Using a public forum to address issues like this is not right. The only reason I do so is because I'm doing so in a reactive manner rather than proactive.
I still can't believe that you posted a thread like this. If you took the time to contact the Black Country group you would see that there is no attempt whatsoever to play off any other group. Everything about our set-up indicates clearly who we are.
Maybe you carp specialists should stick to catching oversized goldfish? (I put that in by the way, in comparison to your 'float flingers' comment. That's not my view, just using it to illustrate a point)
