Your Trent stones remind me of a Norwegian angler friend who so wanted to fish the Hampshire Avon on the Royalty, having read so much about it some years back.

We came over together for 5 days fishing and when he got home he made a very similar piece using stones from that river.

We took one day off from the river to fish a pairs match on Gold Valley and came 3rd overall . . . . great fun especially for him as there were no king carp in Norway at that time . . . .

I could see my wife putting up with that. I could maybe get one in my shed. Come to think of it I've probably got a good number of floats to make my own. If I ever lose my senses. ;)

Peanut, what are the bodies made from on your straight insert wagglers (sarkandas Reed, peacock quill etc)?

Below are a set of
"Stepped Boddied Wagglers In Pearlescent Burgundy Paint".

Two for me and two for a friend.

I will be using mine for bream and general coarse species in the deeper parts of a small lake near work. I hope you like them.

More pics on the blog.?

I've been dabbling a little of late.

Much of my Barbel fishing is now done on what is intended to be a roving basis and, although I often get preoccupied in productive swims, one of the issues I face is the changing characteristics of different runs which affect the choice of tip colour and so i've made a set of fixed or slider Avons with interchangeable tip colours and lengths to suit different swims, baits, species etc. and I also incorporated a length of wire into the Sarkanda reed stem with the intention of making the float itself a little heavier and more stable. I couldn't just use wire without the reed stem due to the issue of the very small float rubbers required for wire not passing over the bottom slider eye and making the floats less versatile but i'm happy with the result.

I was on the river for daybreak to see how it fared and the prototype did seem to hold its line better. I landed six Barbel before 6am, eventually calling it a day due to the thunder and lightening just after 11am on a total of fifteen of the arm wrenchers...

I'm expecting to have the set finished next week so i'll post the whole lot up, along with the tips, as soon as.

How are you Steve?
Cheers for asking Mike and good to hear from you.

All good thanks, had a turbulent few months due to one thing and another but starting to get things together again and get back out on that river.

I hope you and yours are all well ?

No complaints Steve . All is well and I'm as useless as ever ! Next week we have the entire family to stay for a week including a dog and 2 grandchildren. I couldn't be more excited if I had a 12lb barbel on the hook! Stay well , be yourself and enjoy life. ???

Lovely fish, great presentation and delightful tackle, as always. Good man!
