Another afternoon on the river made more difficult by an interloper fishing in my swims!![Wink ;) ;)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Three people fishing midweek on a stretch I usually have to myself all winter long. Perhaps the word is getting out, just as I intend. Great news for the club, perhaps not such good news for me.
I was forced to fish an unfavoured swim, for no reward at all, while I waited for a peg hopper to vacate one of my banker swims. From the little I saw of him, I suspect that he had overfed a bit, so I was going to have to be patient and feed tiny amounts in an effort to get them interested in a moving bait again. It did prove to be the case, but I did start picking up the odd fish. After a while, the bites became much more regular, but they were quite finicky. Unusually for me, I dropped a hook size and used a lighter hooklink. That had the desired effect and I started getting more regular hook ups, though a few were tiny grayling. I did manage three around the pound mark and one at 1lb 6oz (season's best, so far) amongst 11 grayling and 2 trout.
