My angling drought had ended so, finally sat besides two deadbait rods this morning on a lincolnshire waterway I relaxed and waited for a run.
It didnt come untill after noon when the paint had finally dried.
The far rod dropoff jumped and then came free of the line .
The run was not very positve but very twitchy that suggested a small jack which turned out to be just that-- a short very one sided fight saw a fishof maybe four pounds came to the nett with little trouble.
Nicely marked tho but his bigger mother would have been welcome.
Hopefully I'll meet up with her on future visits!.
picture hosting.

Finally broke the drought.... a very obliging smallish but welcome rainbow took a sunken royal stimulator. Been a very long time since i caught anything the cold winds have made my sessions very short.Hopefully the weather will keep warming up seems to make the fish a bit more active....

Failed again last night trying maggot feeder in same 'banker' swim I failed in last time I fished my local river. I expect to be in vicinity of the Ouse again over next 3/4 days so will hopefully get some interest there. They seem to take pity on a poor incompetent stranger judging by previous efforts.

Do you ever have one of those days when you didn't go fishing but later in the day wished you had? Today was just one of those days, should be in a seperate thread really "how didn't you get on"

A walk along the coastline and I was treated to some spectacular cloud formations and thought I'd share a pic with the good folk on HDYGO

Enjoying our short stay at caer beris hotel.

River up and coloured and pushing through so very difficult.
Pleased to catch my first Irfon grayling of about a pound plus a few mini brownies..so sweet.

Fished (allowed) just 3 hours. Hopefully also some water getting into LIF for our visit.

Horrible weather today! Severe squalls every half hour or do. Positives were that my new brolly, a thermal beanie hat, a snood and a hand warmer made all the difference and kept me warm and dry. The negative was only two bream all day and then in the last hour. Mind you nobody did much better. It was very muddy as well:(

I nearly didn't go and only started fishing at 11.00am and left at 3.30 pm. Enjoyed it though particularly because the correct kit made such a difference and will enable me to fish all winter. Just need a decent bib and brace/ thermal suit/ waterproof suit and I'm sorted .

I just looked at the Hotel website - looks very nice - are you on one of the Bob James fishing courses? ;-)

Hugh.
You're Avin a larf.
Neither he nor 2bobs would be my favourite choice of host.

Popeye has done a few here as well, and I taught him all he knows about guiding.

Just a great deal 149 for 2 nights for 2 with breakfast and fishing and a 7 course tasting menu last night.

Having failed to get a bite last time out I returned to the lovely spot on the Ouse that gave me a fine day and a bite a chuck previously.
Naturally I blanked!

A very nice afternoon spent trotting the river in the autumn sunshine today, I only decided to go this morning with a view to catching a few baits for some upcoming pike and zander sessions and so I picked up a pint of reds on the way, donned the waders and had a paddle around.

The river was in a bit better fettle, more water than of late but dropping although it still had a bit of colour and it was all or nothing having tried two swims without a bite and then finding the fish in a third.

Nothing big but it was bag up time once I’d located ‘em, I risked a quick pic mid-river…

Ended up with a nice mixed bag of around sixty fish including chub, dace, perch roach, a skimmer (!) and a ruffe.

Tomorrow has been postponed until Sunday for the sake of a better day weather wise and I fancy a mashed bread ‘n flake day on the river, roll on... :w

I recipricated with a planned trip with a friend who treated me to a day on a very private lake earlier in the summer, my shout, so, this morning in thick fog we arrived at a near local commercial .
I was told by the very friendly bailif that one lake wasnt used much as it was a mainly roach water so headed straight to it with my partner.
A home made drinking straw waggler loaded with lead wire ans lightly shotted shirt button style was my line of attack with oft fed loose maggots.
In straight away with several nice roach that became a little edgy after several were landed but a re shot ironed out the hesitance and I was able to carry on catching save for the odd "tea brake" or "shift change" .
All nice stamp roach with the odd half lb fish .
Even when the sun came out it was productive and I was clicking up the score that by 2-30 was approaching forty nice fish.
I was playing another roach to the net when the water erupted with a hu mon gus perch hitting the roach. Not much I could do with a 1•1 bottom and a 22 hook and the perch was soon gone -- mortified to say the least--- next time in and a 1•5 perch hits my landing net no trouble.
After that the roach were more wary but I ended with some 53 roach and the perch for a guestimated 12 or 13 lbs.
My friend had less fish but several roach on or near the lb mark.
Great day, I will ask if I can go in next time tooled up with a pair of rods and junkied lobs for those perch, I darent think how big the one that hit my roach might have -- massive just about describes it!!
Pike next teusday on a trent trib-- .

What can I say yesterday was a bust.
31 small roach in 6hrs, all punch fish but that's hardly surprising it's all I take.
My own fault I fed too much as I had fish then they just stopped feeding.
Started a new swim but scratched the rest of the day for only the odd fish, couldn't get a decent run of fish all day.
If it's dry Monday I'll be there again.

Peter I caught all my fish yesterday on the float using worm! The young lad I referred to in the post about younger anglers was using worm as well.
