I know all about the Sheffield but is the J W Young reel better and worth buying?

Depends on your preferences and pocket. I put them up because they are at bargain prices, not because I was making any particular recommendation.
All you need to know is that £225 is a bargain price for the Youngs and most places are selling them closer to £300. £192 is a steal. Similarly, the best price I've seen for a new Sheffield is about £165.

Thanks Sam! Tigger wherefore art thou Tigger? What do you reckon Ian?:)

The youngs Heritage is a fair price at two hundered or under if it's brand new. I've had brand new ones for 150 in the past but they do seem to be selling for a little more now. The caged line guard isn't to my liking but it's easily removed with two little screws. The reel is just another variation on the purist really, just a different colour, different line guard and a few holes drilled in it. It's a ball race reel like your sheffield but has the addition of a micro drag and a spoked drum, plus the caged guard.
Mike, unless your sure your gonn'a get into trotting i'd stick with the sheffield for now as you may never use it...jmo of course. Obviously if you fancy it go for it and fook the expense :D.

Chapmans also have a Shaky rod sale.

Recently had a visit to Ikea. I bought 3 prs scissors in a pack for £1. The two smallest fit in the tackle box AND ARE SHARP AND CUT BRAID.

Best scissors I have found are the ones that paramedics carry, they cut anything without blunting including trace wire  Amazon are doing them for £2.49 a pair. They are called tuf cut or trauma scissors.
