It's nice when you get a bit of useful fishing clothing via a tip for a bargain, but buying online or untried-on (Lidl and Aldi don't have changing rooms) is always risky as sizing can be way different between brands. Hanging next to my PTFE-textured Aldi bib n brace is an old hardly used Fishrite bib n brace. It's a nice soft-shell type of thing, fleece-lined, but is ridiculously long, concertina-ing up and dragging in the mud. As my day is packed with incident and excitement, I just ran a tape over it, and the inside leg's actually short - under 29" - but the body is unbelievably long and the crotch is round your knees. Free to any 6' 9" blokes with little legs.

My ts has a room with just clothes and luggage, and for very little extra cost you can get stuff that actually fits.

Nice idea with the cycle clips, Mike.

Both Gordon and I have the Crane jacket and bib and brace from Aldi and they are excellent value and well made . I would definitely buy another set if and when they wear out. The trousers are too long but then I’m short in the leg. They have a zip on each leg so shortening them isn’t really on.
That's the same as what the lads I know have , and some of these are fishing a couple of days a week and at weekends ,

Thanks for saying Seth, I popped into my local Aldi this morning and purchased the bait tub/s the large maggot tub is really good, a well fitting lid with sensible sized holes big enough to prevent maggots from sweating and going "off".
I did look at the wellies too but the ones I have are new so will probably wait untill next time!

The Tackle Box at Dartford have some Berkley lure rods on special offer. They are between £26 and £28 each. RRP of about £90 and on sale at other places for around £70. I bought a 1-8g model and they look a very tidy bit of kit for the money.
This the one I bought but they have a range of different models.

One of my little treasure troves yesterday, all this in a tray for £4. Admittedly not all good for me but the floats and some of the hooks will be, the reels need attention but funny enough I did need a telescopic rod ring protector. The line is 10lb Diawa sensor but might do me for float sea fishing.

Check the lids to make sure they stay on .
There have been reports of some of the sizes being loose .

I have four of the 1 to 2 pint square bait tubs (not the smaller round ones) and the lids fit fine on these.

I’m quite pleased with them and glad I bought them (great value too) unless the rubber edges on the lids un-expectantly start to deteriorate over time of course :) but at that price who really cares?.

I’m not sure about their smaller round ones though; I haven’t looked at these; maybe it’s the lids on these that are being found to be a bit loose??

Not had a problem with the small round ones, the lids are a good tight fit, I use them for sweetcorn, peiiets, chopped worm etc.

Happy with my little boot fair haul today. Line £1, baiting needle .50p, two packets of hooks to nylon £1, lures 20p, box of old floats £2. Plus a few non fishing items and a big punnet of Kent strawberries for £2 which will be stuffed while we stuff Spain, yum yum.

I bought a couple of packets of Drennan bait bands last week. There weren’t many in each packet and it came to over a fiver. On another site a guy mentioned that he had got some dental bands from Amazon. I took a look and it was Prime day and they were doing a 1000 bands in a variety of sizes for a fiver. The price has gone up a bit since, but seven quids worth will last some of us old foggies a life time, lol.

What a con that Prime Day malarkey is. I bought a pair of trackie bottoms from Amazon last week because they were half the price Sports Direct wanted. Come PD they’d more than doubled and are now £6 more than Sports Direct.

Amazon should be renamed Footpads-R-Us !
You can still pick up the odd bargain. I find you have to look more carefully than you should to make sure you’re getting a decent deal. I mainly use Amazon when I can’t be arsed looking all over the place for something, but you are right some of their special deals are anything but.

I'd never heard of dental elastic bands - had to google them. If you want something a bit bigger, and even cheaper, for bigger soft baits like mussels, small hair bands like these can be lassoed around the hook. Check the ads for sizes as they vary a lot. Hundreds for a couple of quid.
