When spooling line on the pin I understand the dexterity required to move the line across the spool bed for an even lay but should one wind on with the ratchet on or off?
Cheers Ian i will have a go! Is it a problem to have the reel spooled up ready like fs reels?
You sound as bad/fastidious/ particular as Binka Ian!
Fastidious! A good word. A far more politic word than I was coming up with for what those two have got!
I always thought I was bad enough until I met Tigger and Binka. It's nice to meet people that make you feel normal!
I always remove the line after a session and burn it or cut it into little pieces, wipe my reel off (inside and out) and then spool fresh up when I go again. The cost of the line I use makes this do-able and with very little expense.
Get yourself a decent line you cheapskate - you wouldn't need to replace it every 10 minutes then................
common sense-
I'd agree with you on the first part Ian.....................
Jammy barsteward.......?
I had a lurk on the barbel fishing world forums when checking out lines.
As usual it was a mixed bag, Gardner line was mentioned a few times but so was Daiwa Sensor, the consensus being it is a good reliable general purpose line at a reasonable cost.
Not used it in anger yet but it spools up nicely without the determination of other lines to get everywhere but on the spool.
Used it for years, its tough and reliable and cheap, tried another line early season but soon went back to sensor.
