After yesterday’s trip to the ‘new’ pond in the middle of nowhere I decided to return to the first pond for some more crucians. This was decided because, although the water is very clear, it’s not quite gin clear like the one yesterday – also it’s not quite so far to walk either so I didn’t need to leave at the crack of 09.45 as two consecutive early starts can be quite tireing...............
.
I arrived at about 10.45 and set up the 14’er along the margins with a one and a half pound b/s bottom adorned with a 2x No8 and 3x No10 float (dotted right down) and fished under the rod tip. Another very sunny day but, after the first half hour, the bites came thick and fast and by 14.30 17 crucians had been banked although not to the size of the previous visit.
Of more importance, I believe that I might have taken the lead from Binks in the smallest tench challenge – the little bu99ers love to hide in the reeds with the crues..............
