Al do you fish the margins late on ? It can be a prolific place to fish - you need to , usually , find two foot of water and feed quite a bit more than usual.

just finished a late afternoon/early evening session on a local commercial, eight Carp (6 commons, 2 mirrors) from about 9lb down to 3lb and a solitary Roach that fell off the hook, sounds OK except I was after Tench! The nuisance fish even took bl**dy maggots:rolleyes:

Fished a small local pit today with a big perch in mind. Pole at 8m with a light pole float and maggot over caster, tight to a big overhanging bush.
Hooked loads of small ones then a big one which took my laccy for a stretch until it found a snag....:doh:
Rig ruined so I changed to a rig set 3ft deep in open water around 6/7ft deep. Spraying loose maggots and slapping the rig carp stylie I had a shedfull of cracking roach to 12oz.
Lovely day out....

I went out at 2.30 today, as I'd said I'd help man one of the bubble machines:D on the lake (thats been suffering a severe oxygen crash).

Anyway, no one was there so I decided to fish a lovely looking swim in the river nearby.

I fished meat over hemp and particles and was not bothered by fish or cray.

At 5 pm I decided to move as I really wanted at least one bite.

Which happened just as the light was fading.

Packed up at 9ish, everything feeling a bit damp due to the 88% humidity.

Still a lot to learn.

Hi Benny,

Yes was in the margins all session (4pm onwards) - fished a nice overhanging tree at about 2 1/2 to 3 foot then swapped to just under 2 foot on the other side of my peg (had been baiting little and often on the other side for a while to get some interest).
There were quite a few fish in my the time I started going there, lots of interest but only a few decent takes.
Fished very differently to my usual - i'm used to having F1's grab my bait and RUN, here they just seemed to gently potter off with it. Ver yoff!

I decided to have my first barbel session since early season today and fished my usual 10.30am – 3.30pm on one of the local stretches of the Colne. Three barbel to 11lb.14oz and a couple of snotties that I won’t mention...;)

Well done Jerry.
Fished the open at willows London Colney on the big pit today.
Started on the method with groundbait and yellow bandum. Skimmer after 5mins then nothing. Decided to fish the last 5 hours on 3m whip and maggot.
Hardly stopped catching roach, roach bream hybrids and a couple of decent perch. It was literally one a chuck till the whistle on single red maggot over groundbait and casters.
Ended up with 23lb 7oz which won me the match...
2nd had 21:14. 3rd 21:03.
Sitting at home now and I feel like I've been in a fight, absolutely cream crackered.
But happy...

Cracking fish Jerry.

My couple of days at Throop last week produced modest roach and dace bags with Perch to about 1Ib 4oz but not even a rumour of anything larger. Lovely water though.
