I'd rather catch a flounder...

Or a ten spined stickleback. Much harder.

Or a stone loach...even a ruffe. Used to catch them on the Loddon now its just "lumps"

Nice fish, eh?
'Chatter' has a lot to answer for :wh ;)

Always thought they probably eat the small flounders, or perhaps its just that both like the same swims

Just an update, thanks to all for getting back with confirmation of attendance. Unfortunately two are unable to attend for reasons beyond their control but we gain two late entries, a flounder bounder and a Daywalker so there will be a very healthy 16 as things stand.

As sunup is at 7.20 and sundown at 16.10 I'll propose a meet up in the car park between 7.30 - 8.00 to give a chance for a chat prior to fishing, also a chance to answer any questions for those who may be unfamiliar with the fishery.

I'll be posting more details the week before the event...............

Best leave the Kayak at home Ray :D

NO WAY :eek:mg:

I am making my way down the day before, Me in one kayak, towing my gear in the second one behind.

Might think about adding a third, that will be full of maggots so Skippy can keep up with Neil :wh:)

See you there guys.

ETA 7.10am I'll tie up under the bridge ;)

There is one ticket now available on a 'pay on the day' at £22.50. If anyone is is interested in joining the fish'in, which is always a good day out on brilliant chalk stream - with the opportunity to meet up with other FM members - please make yourself known..............................

The venue is booked exclusively for FM members on the day.

Not like you to get up that early Jerry. Have you got Tee-Cee to give you an alarm call when he gets to the venue?

I make an exception for fish'in's(?) Clive. Otherwise a 10.30 start suits me down to the ground (my presentation is good enough so that I don't need to fish in low light conditions to catch;)) Also, being retired, I don't give a sh!t about the clocks changing as I do everything when I'm ready....:D

PS Tony is probably in shock after the Spuds result and the fact they'll probably be MK Spuds for two years while their new stadium is being built...:D

I've given up on the bl**dy Spurs. Never seen a team look so disinterested in playing football. Watching them, they look to be playing at half speed sometimes.

The way things are going the stadium should be about ready as we drop out of the Championship.....

I'll be glad to get out fishing - all this football stuff is doing my head in !!

Anyway, hope you guys have a good time at the fish-in....As good a place as any for Jerry to break his new chub record !! Do I hear a '7' ??

Tee Cee,

I know how you feel, my Subbuteo team play faster and move around more, since Harry has been gone, we have been S***

The biggest problem is the wife is a Gooner, she doesn't say anything to be fair, but then she doesn't have to. 29 years married to a Gooner, must be worth a knighthood

If you do you must have hearing like GCHQ

He must hope he avoids the 'animals' that are running at the moment, if he doesn't and his hooklength stands up everyone will be hearing a 'coming through' request :D

Suggestion to all.....load your reels with more than 50yards if you wish to stay attached.

Fun fun fun!

I may well up my 2.5 hooklink after that advice. And reload the spool.

Thanks for that advice.

A three generation Spurs sufferer who at least is old enough to remember watching
Dave Mackay, Jimmy Greaves, Cliff Jones, Chalkie White, Maurice Norman etc.

Those were the days.......

Will we ever see them win the league again in our life time, I keep the faith, and have been for 53 years :)

Will the 1.7lb float fish still be OK Mick or shall I go with the 2.0

To the uninitiated.
I can only offer advice gained as one of the very few who fish weekly or more.
My reel line is 6lb and my hooklength is 4lb but just the other day I still lost a good fish in under 15secs though a bite-off and it swam over 70yards while putting a serious bend in my Hardy Specialist.

Its a true mixed fishery with runs of both species of tourists both of which go up to and above 20lb, have teeth, and only know two ways to run, up and down and fast!
This year they are plentiful and larger than the norm, everyone can expect at-least one contact, the unfortunates may have to move to avoid them.

The resident spotties have benefited from the flush and are there in serious numbers, especially in the fav Grayling runs, biggest to date, 7+.

The coarse species are well catered for with plentiful supplies of natural food and an abundance of weed, all except the Barbel are well scattered so if you get one you may get 3or4, any more will be a bonus.
The big Ladies seem especially solitary this year, usually just in one and twos.

Please ensure your gear is well dried off to prevent disease transfer and read the fishery rules beforehand.
If you use well sharpened barbless hooks and gear strong enough to prevent constant losses, rest assured you will all have an enjoyable day.
