I'll let you know the result regarding the top beats as soon as I know.

tight lines,

Peter

Happy birthday Peter, hope it's a good un. Shame you're away for the fish-in, I'll raise a glass in the Swan.

Nice lot of rain recently, that should clean the place out a bit, at present the weed is like July to say nothing of the silt :eek:mg:

I can keep you updated or do you want to find out on the day?

Barbel have hibernated and the carp fed the otters.
Please bring your heavy gear, brolly and bedchair to enjoy a good sleep.

Local rules.
Anything over 0.8lb bottom match tackle will be donated to a local charity and the culprits will be required to 'give 25' to the squad leader.

Fine for catching non target coarse fish £10 :D
Fine for catching a 'tourists' £100

Regional Prize for biggest 'Lady' .....a pint of Ringwood Best for all the loosers :D

Won't be long now.

First one is OK by me.

Second is a problem for me!

Third would have cost me a small fortune several times over!

Third I object to on the grounds that there are far finer tipples than Ringwood offerings, although Forty Niner and Boondoggle pass muster when nothing else is available.

Looking forward to it.

:)

Totally agree but I was only referring to the Swan's offerings.
I will check the next time of passing but Best was the only Avon water available last time I propped it up.

Good call on the tourists, some seriously good runs this year.

Graham, waggle all you want, but be aware that a nice orange tip travelling back upstream can prove very tempting to some of the local residents, and if you use those clear hollow thingies.........best bring plenty of spares :D

Serious question quickie: Peter, if we are on a coarse fish ticket for Grayling is it allowed to use a fly at all ?

As I have never tried the classic Czech nymph method for Grayling and wouldn't mind having a go. Assuming that is that the presently forecast torrential rain does the necessary clearing out of the summer weed and river bottom for it to work. On the other hand being collared round the ear by a Bailiff for taking the pee and trying to nab Salmonid on a coarse ticket might seriously upset my day.
