Graham, you have never seen PJ's pole box set up obvioulsy - it is a mobile home!

To be fair to Peter, on the Kennet day he had less tackle with him than I have ever seen him with before.

Nigel,

The pole match set-up is one I've used for years - a place for everything and everything in its place - leads to economy of movement, and thereby no lost time when fishing.
Baits and groundbaits to hand, catapults in the right bait boxes etc. etc. etc.

What can I say, other than its an old matchman's "thing" - a bit like continuing to feed when playing a fish.

Now, the Itchen - what if the wind changes when fishing a stick float, then you need a waggler rod.
What is the fish come right up in the water, then you need two identical rods, one set to full depth and the other with strung out shot, what if, what if, what if?

Oh, W.T.F. okay, I'm a Tackle Tart, and there is no help left for me ;-)

Good job we aint doing a pools "thingy" on this one eh Peter.

Crafty bugger, I knew it!

"What can I say, other than its an old matchman's "thing"."

;-)

Jeff is right handed, so yep he might need a pin loaded the "wrong" way.

Steve, what can I say?

Other than if you want a pools 'thingy' on the Itchen, then I'm game . . . . . . .

;-)

So, your, 'Little Sis' is contra-handed then, damn, better get the line spools out.

Nigel, if I wasn't getting so tight in my old age I'd buy a new box set-up.
The trouble with the old Boss boxes is that you cannot hang anything off of them, hence the need for a platform, or three.

(that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it until I think of a better one)

Incorrigible Peter, that's what you are.

What will you do when you are too old to push that barra then eh! or carry loads of gear? You will be like me and carry the bare minimum and hope your memory hasn't let you down and you have forgotten your landing net or your floats or something vital that is still in the garage.

Sad tales of forgetfulness, I could write a book on it except I can't remember what I forgot!

Graham,

I know that one day I'll have to trim it all down, but until then I'll carry on my way.

Believe it or not, I have a little spreadsheet checklist that I print and then put in the car and tick off as I load the different items. Honestly!

Steve,

I'm looking forward to this one too, even without a pools 'thingy'

The Itchen is al ittle special after all.
But, I'll glady come to your backyard for a pools 'thingy' day ;-)

What's all this about centrepins? I was planning on using baitrunners and carp rods on a pod. Will that be frowned upon?

Careful with that money Brummie. Learn your lesson from Old Uncle McWallet. You know you are the perpetual bridesmaid and you will only end up losing all your pocket money again!

No problem Claudia, I'm used to it ;-)

"he just likes to be prepared for all occasions"

See, the Ladies of the site understand, class, when they see it ;-)

Graham,
What a good idea to have a separate section for 'Events'
