Fishery: Ribble above Preston
Time fished: 4.30pm to 6.30pm
Weather details: milder than of late, patchy fog.
Water details: Slabs of ice going down river, 10 to 15ft ribbons of ice down both margins, river rising very slowly, chunks of dead weed fouling lines as well as the ice. Apart from that - excellent!
Water Temp: 32 degrees F.
Air temp: Fell from 39 to 34 deg F during session.
Method: legered flake, crust and cheese.
Results: Blank

Crikey Graham, you're keen!
Your description of the day reminded me of that Fred J. Taylor quote. It went something like "I'll be glad when I've had enough of this"
Horrendous conditions but at least we haven't had the floods which kept many of us away from the rivers like last winter.

Fishery......Wye Herefordshire, ( 2 venues)
Time fished.....Allday!!!
Weather.....Foggy but milder.
Water.......Far lower than i expected, and clear, still had odd ice flows.
Water temp..not taken.
Method...Q tip/mini taped feeder with bronze maggots in tumeric.
Result...one lone salmon parr and one chub 4.9 at the death.
Brief discription... worked hard hoping for a decent roach or two but did not get the day i expected in the milder conditions, tried two different areas but very hard going.

Water conditions.Low but nice winter colour, not much flow though.
Method...........Mostly legered cheesepaste.
Result...........3 Chub inc new P.B.
Brief description..Legered several swims just with hookbaits making my way to the swim I fished on 2.1.02.by 16.30 which I filled in with mashed bread so I didn't have to carry back it to the car!Started to get bites @17.00,missed a couple then started to change things around,The 5th change finally produced a fish @18.30,a new P.B by 3oz.most of which must have been my cheesepaste @6lb.5oz.followed by two more in two casts of about 3.5,two more missed bites,just taking bits out of the paste almost like eels and then nothing for the last half hour.

Result...........2 chub one of 5-6(new PB) of 4-15. Only 2 bites all day but well worth the wait. Roll on next week.

brief description...lots of very shy bites all day but couldnt connect.tried deep lures but had to abandon that idea because the water on the line was frezzing as it came out the water..oh well better than being at work....

Method .......... Feeder, worm till dusk then sweetcorn & bread
Results ......... 2 bream 7lb-11oz & 6lb-10oz plus 1 hybrid 4lb-12oz

Had to break ice at waters edge and only one peg open but I was the only angler so no problem. Two fish fell to sweet corn and one to bread all after dark.

Brief description of the session: Fished from the Spur road down to Bosley weir had one chub 5.7. @ 17.30 and one of 4.4. @ 18.15 both fish gave nice confident easy bites.

Brief description of the session. Two bites both fast snatches on Sardine chunks over sardine mash and breadmash. Fed some pre bait for tonight in several swims.Saw a Muntjack deer!

Results.......AAAARRGH two bream !! Both new P.B.s actually by 3oz & 2oz @6.9 & 6.11 I just wish they had been chub!!
Brief description of the session: It's one of those swims that looks so good you don't know where to cast first.Baited with mashed bread stiffened with CSL & Trout pellet and then searched around with cheesepaste had one fish @17.10 and one more @18.15 both took large balls (25mm) of cheesepaste.This was the same swim that produced the 5.7 chub last night.
