Your tench fishing is like the Monty Python spam sketch Kev.

You can catch tench, tench, tench, roach and tench.

With so many I wonder just how big those tench will grow?

Me too. My biggest was 4lb Biggest I've seen caught was 6lb

With another thread in mind, I’d pay a decent price for a ticket to fish a lake stocked with a large head of 6lb tench.

Headed out last night for a very quick dusk session after a lure caught Ruffe on the GUC.
It was still a bit early in the year for my hotspot to properly produce, but had a few bites and managed to hook one

Yesterday afternoon I went to have a go at the tench on the water we were planning to fish on Tuesday before the BF's new pole arrived.

Typically, he couldnt make it due to an appointment with the diabetic nurse so that left me to go down and see if I could winkle a fish out. Brother Simon will know the water....its Ricky Aquadrome complete with bloody water ski club.. Picked a decent looking spot and banged a couple of feeders out about 35 yds....one in-line block end,thd other a standard method feeder. Then spombed about a dozen missiles full of goodies out just in time for the bloody ski boat to go right ovet my spot ! Reasoning that the fish would be used to it by now I tried not to hurl abuse at every pass of the boat but I'm afraid I failed. Get a job I say.

I arrived about 1-ish and it wasnt until around 4 pm the maggot feeder rod roared off and I popped my cherry with a lovely tench of 6lb 5oz. Grumpy rocked up a little later to see how I was doing and he'd not been there 5 minutes before the other rod was away....maggot again a good scrap and this was another nice (male) tench of 5-11.

I felt certain I was good for another but despite spombing some maggot and hemp out I never had another bite though I did have a couple of liners. With the temp dropping rapidly I decided to give it best.

Very satisfied with that for a first go on a water I've never fished before. I'll definately be going back.

Are you still a Uracs member skip? Or did you get a day ticket

Day ticket, Simon....if the tench fishing holds up I will probably rejoin the Rovers but its a lot of money IMO. Thought I'd try a day ticket or two before commiting.....and that bleedin boat is a concern too. I really cannot be having with those idiots all day long.

This is a bit of a cheat post as I couldn’t fish today with various domestics to take care of. That did however enable me to take a stroll along the Stour running though Canterbury.

Gin clear water and Polaroid’s made fish spotting easy and they were abundant, chub, carp, pike, perch, roach, dace and bream all observed within a mile stretch. They will of course all vanish on June 16th.

Skip, you can avoid the boat on the riverbank side, TBH you don't need to cast out that far to the boat buoys for the tench. I catch them on waggler 20yds out.

Just finding me way around,Simon. I plan to try different areas and methods but I'm afraid I do actually enjoy sitting behind feeders on alarms.

Bunked off work today (sshh don't tell the boss) so I could take dad fishing, part two of the get dad some bites following the previous instalment where he struggled on the canal, and I wasn't as much help as I could have been that day it's fair to say.

It was time to rectify that. He had tied some smaller hooks and got some smaller floats so we went off to a club pond where it's fair to say it's well stocked but not a muddy puddle. We weren't going for the carp but rather the native species so I put him in a spot where I knew there were some decent perch, and failing that there would be roach and bream. We were fishing single maggot as it tends to avoid the carp, size 18, 3lb bottom

Dad didn't catch much but had enough bites, oh and he smashed his perch pb out the park with a super stripey that went 2lb 10oz I love it when a plan comes together!

Well done dad

P.s Skip if your photo is in portrait then you may have to reduced the image size as it will come out on it's side

First time out fishing today since the river season closed. I've had a shimano technium specialist quiver for about 10yrs now and thought, maybe it's time I took it for a fishing trip!
I got to the venue at 3pm and fished until 6.30pm and I had a perch or a rudd virtually every cast. I also had my intended quarry...tinka.
I suppose the quiver tip rod was great, as far as quiver tip rods go, it may be another 10yrs before it gets another outing.
