If you accept that the scent would linger on human skin then i don't understand what you think is different about maggot skin?

Its a fair point I guess.....though I'm a bit wary of drawing direct comparisons. Things that we think smell great very likely smell completely different to fish...and vice versa. And I think its fairly widely accepted that too much eg flavouring can actually have a reppellant affect.

As I said I've an open mind. I will give it a go and see what happens though there is always the dilemma of whether it was because of or in spite of any additive.

To be honest with you mate i don't have much experience in this area. The best fish i caught on maggot last year was on a single red in 6ft of coloured flood water. Just when i thought there is no way any fish would find it the tip started to knock. The maggots in question had gone all slimy and frothy - added some sawdust to soak up the wet but the overall scent was that of ammonia!

I read somewhere that in order for live maggots to absorb flavour they need to be sweaty! After coating they should be cooled off and coated in maize flour! Apparently coating clean fresh maggots in turmeric or similar is unlikely to be effective!

Some are rubbish, I've had some. The ones in the link may be fine but if you just go and search for cheap ones it's a bit of a lottery.

I'd call them if you actually want one. There looks to be a cock up with the website. After you've selected "4000", go back to "model" and it brings up a notice "
Please note: this is a preorder item and will be sent as soon as it is available
".

If you read the avert the avert is not for the 4000 model all they are saying is if you want the 4000 model it's £40 extra. Which is then the same selling price as everywhere else. A bit misleading but normal practise everywhere just to draw you in.

I'm not convinced. The only other reel in that range is the 2500. It isn't even listed as an option. Even if it actually is the 2500 that's being offered for £40, it's still a bargain. The only way to find out for sure what is going on is to chance your arm on the website or give them a ring.

on the advert they are advertising the reel at £40 but on the drop down menu there is only the 4000 option which it says + £40 which makes it £80.

No, they are advertising a reel at £40, not the 4000 model. Same as when an advert say rods and reels from £xxx amount. That doesn't mean the whole range is at that low price.
Agree though that if the 2500 size isn't available then the advert is totally misleading.

It certainly is and I may ring them tomorrow! However the advert is an invitation to treat ie an invitation to receive offers which they can accept or reject! There is no legal obligation to sell on their part!

I rang a few moments ago! The reduced price is for the 2500 size reel which is not in stock! The 4000 model is but at £79.99! I voiced my opinion on the misleading advert! If anybody wants this reel it is available in both sizes from Eric's Angling for about fifty five! My iPad keyboard won't bring up the numbers for some reason!

How convenient :wh

As an aside I've just received a 10% off voucher via Just Eat, that's gonna come in handy later
