I rang a few moments ago! The reduced price is for the 2500 size reel which is not in stock! The 4000 model is but at £79.99! I voiced my opinion on the misleading advert! If anybody wants this reel it is available in both sizes from Eric's Angling for about fifty five! My iPad keyboard won't bring up the numbers for some reason!

I was once in a tackle shop in sheffield and asked them to price match an item.
They asked me if the other shop had the item in stock and i replied i don't know.
The shop owner said if the other shop don't have it in stock they can advertise it at a silly price because they don't have it to sell.
This stuck with me for some reason.
This applies to this advert as well.
They don't have the discounted reel and as you say the advert is misleading.

Thread the line back through the loop, tie an overhand knot and slide them back on. Not my idea. Picked up on MaggotDrowners.

I put them back on as an assembly now:

The top one never moves and I have some GrippaStops left. That's the only reason they're different.

It's easy enough. The hardest bit is getting the line back through the loop. It always goes through but you need eyes like the proverbial.

Wednesday - it's gonna be hot!

When I was young and a bit tight, I used to keep my grippa and float stops on sewing needles then all I needed to do to reuse them another time is thread the line through the needle eye and slide them off of the needle back onto my line.

I always carry loads of grippa stops nowerdays so haven’t needed to keep any used ones on a needle for a long time now :).

I used to reuse them by sliding them back on to the wire loops. It works fine for the better quality stops. Teat was until I decided to order some cheap ones from China. The listing said they were packed in 100's so I ordered a couple of hundred each of three sizes. It cost me about a eight quid. When the parcel arrived there were two hundred rings, each containing twelve stops. I ended up with 2,400 of each size. I have given lots of them away and I will never have to buy any more!

It must be said that they are not as good (tight) as the branded ones, but at the price, and for my pleasure fishing they are fine, I just double/treble them up if necessary. I have also bought some of the long (sausage shaped) ones. They seem to hold a little better.

Now, that is a good idea. I might give that a try myself. I am sure that will make tackling up on the bank easier, especially when it is cold and the fingers are not working as well as they once did...

10% off at Angling Direct this weekend!

Can anyone explain the huge discrepancy on the price of the stradic c14 range! I accept a 4000 reel is bigger than a 1000 but the prices attached don't make sense ! Do some have hagane gear and some not?

Look to the RRPs to get a better idea of what might be going on. The selling price discrepancies are more likely to be down to stock levels, turnover and whether Shimano have given AD deals on certain models (and not others).

The model that is the most expensive is the high speed model, not just a 4000. If you look closely, the standard 4000 model is actually much cheaper. The XG and HG models are those with higher gear ratios (6:1 or higher). The price differences have nothing to do with Hagane gearing. All of the Stradic Ci4+ FB models have Hagane gearing.

If you intend to buy one of these reels, bear in mind that they can't be backwound at all. There is no anti-reverse switch. I have one and have got quite used to it. Many people, many of which have never tried them, simply cannot countenance a reel without an anti-reverse switch.

AD can be quite canny in their pricing. I've seen prices increase after they've sold an item. They are also pretty good at monitoring what the other big players are doing. If no one else actually has any stock, ADs prices are likely to be as high as they get.

Eric's haven't actually had stock, other than the 1000 and 2500 models, for several months now. Whatever prices they are showing for out of stock reels are pretty much irrelevant unless new stock arrives and is sold at the same price.

Were you looking at the 1000 size? They're really small and the smaller they are the more prone to line twist. Just something to bear in mind if you're contemplating one. I have an Okuma 2000 which you have a play about with if you want. It might give you some idea whether you'll get on with a smaller reel. Even the 2000 is seriously dinky.

In the market for a new chair after getting sick of a newer lightweight Korum that was inferior to the older ones from the very start. The material started fraying at the seam in short order and the legs marked, dented and then started slipping with minimal use. I've eeked it out for a year or two, but when the legs will no longer tighten properly, and tend to drop out at the merest provocation, I've finally got sick of it.

Whilst browsing around, I stumbled across the Browning King Feeder Chair. Not my usual greenish preference, despite that, it still seemed to tick a few boxes that many don't. For a start, it's got no sodding arms, which are fine for the less active styles of fishing, but I hate when float fishing. It's also capable of a fairly high seating position and adjustable back. My own dodgy back much prefers not to be sitting six inches off the ground and reclining as if I'm sunbathing, but I do need some back support, so a match stool was out and full seat boxes are too big and cumbersome for my usual styles of fishing. One big downside was the listed weight, which was slightly north of 12kg. Having never seen one in the flesh, I was also wary of the quality for the money being asked and dubious as to why they were so heavily discounted from a rather outlandish RRP.

Having seen it cheaper than anywhere on the Bobco website, and knowing that the Bank Holiday sale was coming, I took a trip down today. If it turned out to look rubbish, or be as heavy as hell, I'd have plenty of alternatives to look at. The long and short of it is that one came home with me. The chair itself is just shy of 8kg, but that's with the supplied sidetray stowed under the seat. With nowt but the seat, it's 6.6kg. Not the lightest chair ever, but not especially heavy either. As well as the chair itself, the side tray, footplate and carry bag and a feeder arm are all supplied. Get it today and you also get your 20% off. I doubt I'll use the footplate very often, but I'm happy to have it. Admittedly, I can't comment on the longevity of the kit, but it seems pretty well made. For £120, as it is today, it strikes me as a bit of a bargain. You certainly get a fair bit for your money.

P.S. I made it out without buying a rod of any kind.
