Were you looking at the 1000 size?

No not really Gordon! I have plenty of reels but since when did that stop any of us from buying another! I have replaced the line on a couple of feeder reels with much lighter lines and do fancy a stradic or Supergt with the fighting drag just for the hell of it! I recently bought an x aero baitrunner in 4000 size which I like. I would want either the 2500/3000 or the 4000. Having just bought a new TV ( er indoors was not impressed with a summer bereft of a large tv) I am not too fussed any more! Sales are not what they seem!!

Here's a good buy, just shy of £115 with the extra 15% off. Only £5 more than I managed to snaffle one. The bonus is that it's Ci4+ and a fair bit lighter than the standard Stradic GTM RC or the Super GT RD.

The fighting drag isn't all it's cracked up to be IMHO. Others might disgree and it might be different with heavier tackle. The problem I found is a typical drag setting for me might be around 1lb on a 3lb hook length. If you set the fighting drag to the centre position backing it off fully does next to nothing. OK, so crank the fighting drag fully clockwise and set the maximum there. Oops, minimum 2lb. It is possible to adjust that minimum internally but I couldn't undo the locking ring so had to get the guy at Shimano to do it. It took several weeks and because of that he did it for nothing but there would normally be a charge although I don't know what. This is a Ci4+ 4000RA by the way which you're welcome to try, I don't have to use it. It's got 5lb line on it at the moment.

Thanks Gordon! I wouldn't mind a look and feel of it as our local AD do not have them in stock!

When are you next down at Dunham? It's literally ten minutes from me I could meet you in the car park and drop it off, I'm generally up early. I'm on the Dam tomorrow and out again Friday and possibly Sunday so any other day.

Mike, if I had known you were after a baitrunner, I have a couple hanging up in my tackle shed, the aero 4010.
Gordon I went for a walk around the Dam yesterday, and from what used to be a 90+ peg water now looks to be about 40 pegs,
A designated disabled peg on the Church shallows now seems to be a bivvy peg, and Bay Malton have let some of the best pegs
get overgrown or taken some out. The only bargain on there is the concession day ticket at £2.50

You saw my post Mark on hdygo about our main bailiff. That explains why some pegs on various waters need attention!

Bay Malton had a reputation of putting details of waters on their potfolio, but fail to mention they have not been stocked,
members were turning up to fish them, As far as I am aware they got a grant to do the peg work on Lymm Dam, The Baycliffe side
was brilliant, now there are hardly any pegs on there.Lymm Dam has been like this for a few years now, at one time on sunny days
it was crowded, when I went round it there were 2 fishing and 1 packing up, BM cant complain about the lack of anglers due to commercials, there has been one in Lymm for over 25 years, Your main bailiff is carrying on doing what he enjoys, I think a lot of people would have given up and stayed at home, Well done to him.
Another bargain was the landing net handle you gave to me, I have yet to put it to use, the fish I am catching are
to small to net, I used my other on in the match on Saturday.

The sales section of FM is a cold and dusty place that is rarely visited. There's a fair chance that the few that have seen your advert, and might be remotely interested, live too far from Grantham for them to pursue any interest.

Rich for what you are asking for them cut your losses and do what I do, donate them to a charity shop,
tell them how much they could get for them because they won't know. I look at it this way £20 is better to them than having the trouble of trying to sell them or be stuck with them

Yep, markcw is spot on!

Charity shops are frequented by lots of anglers, many looking for books etc. and 'most' gladly accept odds and sods of angling paraphernalia. As he says the £20 quid you are looking for is hardly worth the hassle and popping your bits the local charity shop will be welcomed with open arms. They are just that bit different and get folk in the shop but best to ask if they want them first!

I'm quite sure many of us have stuff in the loft gathering dust. Someone, somewhere will grab t with both hands!

BTW, The British heart Foundation will gladly take away decent stuff if too big for shops. We had them collect a load of brown furniture last year that we no longer needed and 3 months later we had a very nice letter saying they had made £350 from items that would've ended down the local dump.........We couldn't give it away!!

Someone, somewhere....................................

(Apologies for going off thread..)

Tony, I wouldn't say its going off thread because in a way the charity shop will sell the donations and
The angler who buys them gets a bargain, Like you I had a letter from the one I donate tackle to and that said my donations had raised £280, Now and then a couple of us are asked by widows of anglers we know to go through
their husbands tackle and either bin it, or keep what we would like, also donate to someone starting out or needs a rod or reel, I have kitted a couple of juniors out and donated to the charity shop, If I keep anything for myself I donate what I thought the shop may have got for the tackle, How many times do you go into charity shops hoping to see some tackle, and if none there more than likely
end up buying a couple of paperbacks.
The British heart foundation shop near me also takes electrical goods as well as furniture, I keep popping in
to see if they have a small larder or caravan type fridge to put my bait in.
