Right let's draw a line under this right now, it was yesterday's news and quite frankly is becoming a bit stale :eek:mg:

I'm reposting this here, which is where it belongs.:)

Yorkshire Trading Company (on the high street) have several types of polaroids in all lens shades reduced from £15-20 (depending on brand) to just £2. I bought SIX pairs and they're very comfortable, particularly the wrap-around type. You may have to rake through several boxes to find them, but it's worth it. The Anarchy brand glasses are excellent. :thumbs:The same Foster Grants polaroids on offer go for about thirty notes in Boots the chemist.

I got pump spray bottle of insect repellant from aldi today, for £1.49.
I could hardly concentrate on my fishing yesterday with the midges annoying the hell out of me.

Greys Platinum Expander Quiver

These are premium quality, I know because I've got two already and I knew someone at Greys when they were current in their catalogue. I was quite happy paying the price I did, but for eight quid, even having to add another fiver for postage, they are a steal. Fully expanded they'll do for a carper with three rods and a shelter to carry. Zipped up and reduced down to minimum, they'll do for a two rods and brolly type.

Flash Sale Six at SportsDirect.com

Oops just saw the other post about the same sale although that link doesn't seem to show the same link.

I wouldn't worry, the SD sales pop up every once in a while only to disappear and reappear at a later date. It's hard to keep track of them sometimes, so a new post isn't a bad thing.

Last time round, or perhaps not;), I took a punt on the Greys Prodigy Push Lok rod rest heads. I'd never seen them in a proper shop, but they looked a reasonable idea. I'm not sure that I'd be too keen on them at full price, but at the SD sale prices, they are rather good, especially for someone that travels pretty light but wants to keep their options open. Buy one of the system kits and any other style of head you fancy for different methods/conditions. They all lock onto the same fitting which also tilts. Another plus is that the heads fit onto a multitooth star stub which allows another plane of adjustment.

My local tackle shop, tacklesaver, have a bargain bin which I occasionally rummage in. Today they had a Maver Abyss x 11 ft feeder rod for £20. I resisted the temptation as I don't need one!;) it was new!

I bought a set of the Grey's push lok rest heads - Thanks, Sam, they're good! - and saw one of those "Black Zero" centre-pins for less than cod-an'-chips for one. Couldn't resist, and for once, I'm impressed.
It runs on three (!) bearing races, improvable by flushing through with petrol or white spirit and re-oiling, pays out line obediently to a 4 BB float in a quiet stream (all that rain and the Lea still looks like gin! HOW??), and just behaves properly. The depth of the arbour is between that of a Trudex and a Speedia I think, so it retrieves quickly, without constantly spilling line over the sides in the slightest breeze, and is, frankly, a bit of a sweetie.

Niggles are the rachet and lock knobs and the lack of a line-guard , but for anyone wanting a decent 'pin very cheaply, it's just the job. IMHO, of course.

I was in Homebase today ( don't ask :eek:mg:) with Mrs S and I noticed some caps and beanies with built in LED lights. Now I'm a big fan of these because I hate head torches with a passion but often these caps have too many lights and they're too bright. These ones were cock on......4 discreet LEDs but even better set under the cap brim so the light is directed downwards. Perfect for rebaiting or fiddling about after dark if you don't want to light up the entire county, shine light on the water or pi$$ the bloke off up the bank which is almost certainly me !

Even better....on closer inspection these turns out to be Panthervision caps which I was aware of but baulked at the price which is around £18-20. Homebase were knocking these out for a tenner with 4 extra free lithium batteries in addition to those already in the cap.
Nice comfortable cap too....which isn't always the case.

That's a bargain in my book. I had one.....I might go back and have another so I can have one in the zander bag and one in the barbel bag.
